Aem Cai :) :)

Got intake and exhaust installed last night.

Is it natural that my revs are lower than usual now? Like when I'm cruising @ 70mph in stock, I used to be around 2.5k, now @ 80-75, I'm rollin' around 2250 - 2.5k. Am i just imagining it cause I heard that gas mileage improves after modding?

I love the hissing sounds and the v-tech switch sound. And the mother PULLS like no other @ highway speeds in 3rd gear. <3 <3 <3 <3. . I was surprised about how loud it ended up being though. Should it sit there and hiss @ me in idle? As if it's egging me on to take it up to higher revs once I pull out of the garage?

I had the exhaust this morning before the intake went in. I noticed the exhaust is actually louder now that I have the intake in. (I can hear the exhaust even more around the 2-3K range).

Can you tell I'm excited? I just feel like goin' out to drive.

All in all... very happy w/ mods.

Also got another question... Is it natural to have a noticeable hissing when sitting @ idle? I was thinking there was some sort of leak, but my friends that helped me w/ the install said it was just air going through the intake. I can't hear it @ all while inside the car, but I can hear it when standing outside.

Oh, and I was warming up the engine last night by leaving it @ idle. I know our engines do some sort of switch if you're idling it. And basically, it did the switch and the hissing went away. Is this natural?

Hissing at idle is ok, very normal especially when you shut the car down. I love my AEM.

how does a CAI increase your gas mileage if you start to rev higher?

i think just cause your revs higher doesnt necessarily mean you waste more gas

It's absolutely impossible that your transmission's gear ratios change from the install of an intake/exhaust. You are just imagining it!

not necesarily, that's definitely possible with an auto, especially at highway speeds. I'm sure you know that the auto's have a lock-up TC. Well prior to mods the TC might have to unlock at certain speeds depending on the incline, wind resistence, etc... After mods the engine should produce more power than it did before at the same rpms.

with this being the case, the TC might be able to stay locked (which would keep the engine about 500 rpm's lower than normal) and still keep the car going at a constant speed.

and thus is definitely possible.

I've noticed it in my first gen. I used to cruise at 80 mph with the tach at about 3100 rpms, but now with i/h I can cruise at 80 mph with the tach at only 2750, and no I am not imagining things, I know my car very well.

wrong for the most part. when you are cruising at a steady pace, very light throttle to keep the same speed, and road conditions are not demanding, the rpms will sit at the same level as stock.
the argument that more power allows the Tc to stay locked is false with the case of i/h mods. those two add essentially zero power at the lower rpms and highway speeds.
even with an extra 10 hp at the crank (under 3k rpms), they would not be capable of producing such a pronounced effect on the rpms at a certain speed.
point is that at each speed, there is a given rpm. the only way to see different rpms is to change the actual gear ratios, no other way around it!
now if you have more power, the tc has much less work to do because you will reach lockup sooner than stock would. but if you are cruising at 90 mph at 2500 rpms on a smooth road, and your just trying to keep the same speed, the rpms will be the same modded vs. stock.
ive been through every mod one by one and it hasnt had an effect on my rpms, except for going through them faster!

There is no possible way to change RPMs unless there is an actual change in gear ratios. Mechanically impossible otherwise.

i think people are overlooking that some of these are m/t while others are a/t which would make their rpms rev at different rpms at different speeds

I have the APex'i full catback. They're "custom fitted" hah. Courtesy of Brianlin.

It's natural for the exhaust to sound just a bit louder with addition of the intake right? I hope I'm not going crazy. It's not too much more. Enough to make me smile that much more. .

Doesn't matter.

Transmission is connected to engine. Not intake connected to transmission. Gear ratios are gear ratios.

Will they go back to normal? I like how the engine is acting right now.

I've been roaming AcuraZine non-stop and I don't want to do anything besides drive my car. Is this normal? But with gas prices being what they are... I'm gonna have to refrain.
