help....no tint over 3rd brake

alright, so i never asked the guy that just tinted my car to go over the brake light. (for a variety of reasons). I have nighthawk black w/ tan, so it really stands out - especially w/ 15% on the back window.

MY QUESTION: has anyone ever removed the deck and painted the inside of the light? any other suggestions?

would he retint it for you?

my place retints it for free after i have to take them off to pass inspection, so i dont think the film costs that much (and i have the badass 3m kind)

my light is covered up by tint and it looks clean as hell, whereas my friend's sticks out like a sore thumb

Just remove the brake light, go back to your tint guy and have him fit a little piece of tint in there and pop the brake light back in. You'll never notice the seam especially with tint that dark.

i heard some people on this board saying that if you are hit from behind, the other insurance companies have used the tint over the third light as an excuse not to pay, so i didn't want to go that route... at this point though, i'm considering going back

wouldn't tinting it and painting it be the same from an insurers point of view-covered up and not visible?

I had my tint redone and when I brought it in the second time, I removed the whole back panel so they could tint over the brake light. The only way for you to get to it would be to remove your rear seat, then the panel top, just to get to the light. You could then just take the light off and repaint the tan colors.

There are threads here you can find on how to remove the back. It's not hard after you've done it once, but the first time is a pain in the butt.

Is that with or without a spoiler? Cause when have one the brake light doesn't work on the rear window. The spolier light takes over. That's how it is from Acura.

don't have the spoiler... i think i'm going to get one, then tint over the light, that just seems to be the most reasonable answer. clean, no jerry riggin'.

i actually have the helms manual (quite possibly the bbest purchase i made), so taking the deck out would just be the logical answer

THANKS GUYS!
