AEM Bypass Valve Broke

Basically hit a pothole, heard some clanking in engine bay, opened engine, heard air leaking from intake, checked it and saw that the plastic on the bypass valve was cracked.

Guess I'm off to Queens Blvd. to look for some silicon hosing, unless someone in NYC has a bypass valve laying around

Should a silicon hose with a 3"diameter and 5" length be good enough? Where can I get something like this in NYC? And people who have done this before, like Scrib, what have you guys done since? Can I just go on with the hosing (cause after using the vavle for 3 years I have seen little use for it)?

Thanks for the help

Can't really answer your questions, but I was thinking about taking off my bypass valve and just replacing it w/ some 3" hose and a couple of hose-clamps. I'm always worried that the little rubber flaps on the bypass are letting unfiltered air into the engine. And like you said, I can't think of one time in the last 3 years w/ my car that I've submerged the intake pipe in water.

Have you ever replaced the hose or have you just left it on?

All I did was take the bypass valve out and replace it with the 3" rubber sleeve.

Not sure what you mean by "hose"...

if i get another bypass valve, would a simple rubber hose/sleeve from home depot be good enough as a temp replacement or do i need to go the silicon route?

I have a new AEM valve still in the box and never used. I will sell it to you for $15. You pay the shipping from north jersey. Let me know if you are interested

Mine broke too, i called AEM they said they would send me a new one and to send the old one back in the box the new one came in. In less than a week i had the new one, but i ordered the 3" AEM silicone sleve from Dean for $12 and left the new bypass valve off
