Advice at the track

Hey guys. im going to the track soon. i am putting in my unorthodox Ultra Sc 12v crank pulley, and my ngk spark plugs, and im heading up there next week. I was just wondering if any of you had any advice on how i should launch my car at the track. And what psi should my tires be. last time i ran a 14.89 and i had the front at 28psi, and the back at 32psi. Is this good?

If anyone has any imput on this. please feel free to help. i need to run at least a 14.40. I don't feel like putting mods in my car and gettin .1 seconds every time.

set your tires to 27 psi ( front ) torque break and rev to 4000 then go. I recommend gate shifting also not ss turn traction control off too. you should be low 14s 14.1-14.3 ish

Set your frt. tire pres. at 31# and rear at 40# torque at 1600 and work your way up untill wheel hop starts you should see 2.24 to 2.35 60ft times let us known.

it's not a racecar as you well know. if you want to go fast you should've bought a car with a cheaper interior but runs quick like a the last gen's mustang gt.

Go early and let the car cool off. Take off the engine cover and put a 10 lb bag of ice on the intake manifold to cool it further. Remove jack, spare tire and trunk mat. Remove everything you can. Run with 1/8th of a tank of gas if possible. Turn off VSA (traction control), stereo and climate control system. Front tires at 25, rear 35. At the line you can torque brake to 1200 or 1500 rpms and on green go but DO NOT mash the pedal, go down alittle slower to avoid wheel hop or a time wasting burnout. Do not worry about reaction time, it IS NOT figured into elapsed time. Use D3 and hold her to the floor all the way to the end. Go around and race again if you fealt the launch was bad, this time leave from idle and see what happens. Weather wise you want 50 to 70 degree air that is dry and to run on a high pressure (blue sky) kind of day. Humid warm air will slow you down.
Now some members will disagree with some of this advice, but overall I would say this will net you nearly the best there can be. Good luck!

^ Sounds good to me. Just don't torque brake until they start to drop the yellows!

Shifting on your own opens the door to move driver error. My quickest times were in SS mode however they were only 0.10 seconds quicker than leaving it in D4.

yeah but what does leaving it in d3 do??? i know ur in 3rd gear when u finish the race, but won't it be better in 1.... i don't really like ss, cause when our car shifts by itself, it doesn't redline first-second gear.. that sucks a lil bit. ......what do u think i should run about....i think i should run about 14.3-14.5

Yeah that sounds about right.

And my car always went to redline from 1st to 2nd. With the supercharger sometimes it would hit the rev limiter from 1st to 2nd.

I don't think it matters. It's not gonna shift any different from D4 or D3. It's the same except when you are in D3 the tranny will never shift into 4th.

Any tips for a soon-to-be SC'd auto? Or pretty much same thing as what others were saying?

Don't torque brake. Leave off idle.

^ That is correct, use two feet as the lights drop and then lift off the brake and hit the gas, but do not pound the pedal to the floor as you may spin and lose time. Get those front tires to grab. If you mess up bad just drive normally down the track and come around and line up again.

I disagree. I know you have pulled off some really good times all around, but i find that tq braking provides a lift of the nose before forward movement. having the nose raised from the start seems to stop some of the wheelhop and takes away some of the sudden nose jump when you go from idle.
but thats from my experience, others may get better results doing it other ways. try both and see what works both. keep alternating between methods to get a good combo set up. good luck!

The transmission is made of glass. Boiling the transmission oil by brake torquing at the line isn't worth the extra 0.05 seconds off your 60' time. I pulled a 2.000 60' time off idle. You and I were very lucky with the health of our transmissions given how quick our cars are (were). Even though I never had a real problem I still wouldn't recommend something so decremental to anyone else.

Before I was supercharged I would brake torque for just a few seconds before the green. I was too afraid to do the same with the car boosted.
