Advice on new A/C Compressor Purchase
So my compressor died at the very tail end of the summer in 09. Now we are approaching Spring 2010 and it's time to finally fix this puppy up.
I know it's bad because there is a visible leak, and loud grinding noise when clutch engages.
So anyway, on to my question. Acura wants $500-$600 for a brand new compressor from the dealership and Acura OEM Parts.
Meanwhile, looking for a cheaper alternative, Denso claims to be an OEM direct fit and they only want $275 for a brand new one!?
Denso Part number 471-1256

Any reason WHY I should not buy the new Denso one?
Acura Part Number: 06388-P8E-505RM

I Already purchased the accumulator/drier and have a brand new aftermarket one here at home.
I plan to take both to my local mechanic for the install. My Local Acura Dealer wants $1200 for a compressor install only.![ugh](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ugh.gif)
Any other advice?
Thanks![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
My 01 CL is about to hit 150k and is running/looking great. I plan to keep her for another year or two...
Got the Timing Belt and replacement Tranny about 1 1/2 years ago so I want to get my money's worth![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
right now they only issue with my car is no A/C...

Local junk yards have the compressor for about $100-150, with no way of knowing the history of said compressors
I rather spend a bit more for a brand new Denso...If they are worth it. I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows if I can use the Denso one without any issues

Thanks Phee
I thought about the JY one but for the price difference I think I will go with a new Denso for ~$100 more than a used JY one.
Guess i'll just bite the bullet then
thanks

I'm currently looking around for a compressor for my 99 CL. Let me know if you find anything good about that denso one.
The CL has 220k on it so not wanting to put too much cash into it...

Hey Guys
I just got my Brand new Denso compressor installed today and couldn't be happier. Also, Denso turns out to be the OEM Acura Compressor! On my Old broken compressor, it says "Denso" On it lol. I feel like I screwed Acura lol. They wanted $500 for an OEM Denso compressor! I got it on ebay, brand new, for $239 +$15 Shipping.
Again couldn't be happier. Go for it!
By the way, I got my Denso compressor from this eBay seller. Awesome Shipping and price! Got it in 3 days from Florida to NYC.

it happened to me last summer. i was "under aftermarket warranty" tottal was like $1150
i had to pay 500 with deductible and transfer. all the rest was covered. Aftermarket warranty sucks! they pay $60 an hour for labor mechanic charge me 80 they paid for only a replacment compressor not acura one. fill up and check whole system i had to
pay on my own they covered only compressor and 2 hours of labor. i have 1 year warranty. im wondered how did that run you. jacob
