advice for future Acura CL-S buyer??

Hello everyone. I am in need of some advice regarding purchasing a CL-S with my situation. Any input is greatly appreciated...

I am currently driving a 1998 Honda Accord EX that I bought used in August 2001. I am currently paying a monthly payment of $265/month (I put $2k for down payment). I hate my Accord. I love the Acura CL-S. I was wondering what my options are.

The Accord has almost 90k miles on it.

I would love to trade my Accord in for a CL-S, whether new, used, or lease. Is it possible to do that without going too much over my current $265/month payment? I also do not want to put any down payment down...just trade-in. Is it possible do you think? Also, I have read some posts that people on here have seen quotes for a used CL-S w/navi for around $22k. I cannot find such a deal in Chicago. Any Chicago people have any input?

I appreciate any help you guys can give me. This forum rules...

depends on what you owe on your accord, if you took out a loan for a few years, you might be upside down

Well, i purchased the car for alittle under $11,800 and I put $2k down and financed the rest. I bought it in August of 2001 and I am currently paying $265/month.

I have never traded in a car before and I was just wondering what my options are. thanks for any input...

I went from a 98 Accord EX to my CL-S. Here are 2 things to consider.

1. My insurance went from $1,250 to $1,800.

2. CL-S will take Super Unleaded which is like $.025 more per gallon than unleaded. The Accord was given me an average of 28-30 mpg, while the CL-S gives me 18-20 mpg. That equates to approx 50% $$$ at the pump.

My 2 cents

Also, if paymenys are a concern, I would try to track down a Legend with low mileage. That will save you a bunch, looks frigging great with nice wheels and is a great car.

Versus the CL-S which has a weak tranny and rattles like crazy.

I bought my CL in November of 2000. I traded in a 93 Cobra(13,500), I sold my daily driver Grand Am(4,000), and I kicked in 2,000 of my own money. I put 19,500 down, and the car was purchased for 29,800 out the door. My payments are 262.72, so I don't see how 265 per month is possible.....especially with no down payment

You can't just trade a car in that you owe money on, and NOT put down a downpayment, dealerships don't work like that.
They always want some CASH.

Last year I considered trading in my car for a 01 yellow INTEGRA TYPE R. I thought about the possibility of trading straight up, but that didn't go too far. They won't give you ANYTHING on a trade in, and my Type S has low miles.

They still wanted 8K in CASH on top of my Type S.

The best bet is to double/triple your monthly payments, and pay your car off ASAP, before you rack up any more miles.

Then sell to a private buyer, and try and get what $$$ you can get outta the accord ASAP, at least before 100K miles.

Not gonna happen dude. I got an awesome deal on similar terms (traded in a Mustang and no money down), but I am nowhere near $265 a month.
