Advice!!

Members,

I am about a week away from my big vehicle purchase. Now I am stuck choosing between two vehicles!!! Do I go with the Acura CLS 6Speed or do I go with the Infiniti G35 Coupe 6SPD!!! (Brembro Brakes & Spoiler) Also it comes with A NAV system which is not offered in the CL Type S. ( I am from Canada) lol!!

Please give me some advice...

Thanks!!!!

Not really sure how other people can advise you on what car you should buy..... Bottom line is that you should drive each of them and figure out which one suits you best.

The Infinity is more of a sports car, whereas the CL is more of a luxury coupe. Stock for stock the Infinity will out handle the CL, however, some suspension mods on the CL and you'll have a nice handling car with some luxury that the Infinity doesn't offer. With the Infinity you're buying a first year car which could have some problems, whereas the 6speed CL has been relatively problem free.....

Being in Canada... do you want FWD or RWD?? If you go with RWD.. are you going to have another car for the winter months? Do you need room to haul around 4-5 people? The CL may be more practical then the G35c depending on your needs. I think you should weigh stuff like this into the forumula. We can all give you our opinion.. but it doesn't mean anything if you don't know that you need in a car.....

Agreed, the Infinity is more of a sports car, and is RWD. (bad in my area, maybe fine for you depending on level of snow)
Try to log in several hours in both vehicles before you decide!

Note that even with the suspension mods, the CLS is a big car and won't give you that tight feeling. The luxury difference is personal taste. Also note the new Accords are extremely similar, which means maybe a CLS redesign very soon, so you may also want to wait.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either car.

I was thinking of dumping my CLS for the Infinity coup, but then I heard of a possible AWD in either the TLS or CLS, so I am sitting tight.

this is a very personal desision and its hard for anyone here to help with it.. most peoplehere think the G35 interior is absolute shit..and i agree, it looks like garbage...but thats just an opinion (albeit and opinion shared by many here) and as far as exterior looks, its also a varied response, i like the look of it, but some hate it.

one thing is for sure, im SURE that the G35 with the options you are talking about is at least 5,000 dollars more than the CL-S 6 speed with navi....you should be able to get a CL-S 6 speed with navi for around 31.5k and that G35 with all that shit you want will probably come in at 36 or MORE...so you need to deside what youre willing to spend....also, the G35 is a first year car, first year cars are prone to problems and such, so watch out for that. also, youd really have to test drive both. i would never buy a car without a THOUROUGH test drive and inspection, inside and out. its just not smart to go about it any other way. you may LOVE the look of the G35 but maybe the seats are uncomfortable and you wouldnt know it till you had the title in your hand...personally, i beleive you really CANT beat the CL-S 6 speed with navi as far as bang for the buck is concerned. its powerful, good looking, has a BETTER interior than the G35 and its been out a few years so the kinks have been worked out. the G35 will be a novelty item for awhile, but then what?? it will probably have really shitty resale value later down the road.

bottom line, its your choice, just make sure you know what you can afford, as these 2 cars arent really in the same price braket with all the options you want.

Hey, I bought my CLS when it was a first year car, back in July 2000. And you didn't even thank me for helping to work out the kinks

And the 6-speed CLS is a first year car. Who know what will turn up in a few years with that tranny?

Well, I have a TL-S.. but I thank you anyway

And the 6speed CLS is technically new b/c of the manual... but Honda/Acura has had manual trannies... so it's just a new configuration... not really a new model....

Good luck with your decision. Also keep in mind the CLS is due for a face lift or (some predict) the car being discontinued.

So if resale is something you might worry about. I'd definetly suggest spending some time researching Infinity's 2DR luxury coupes on resale. I can tell you now the CLS has pretty bad resale. However the TLS is much better.

Guess there isn't much of a 2D luxury coupe market... At the moment anyway..

Can't wait to see the pics

Resale on a CL-S isn't that bad. I was offered $23K for a trade on an Audi a couple of months ago $23K for a car that I got for $30K out the door 2 years earlier, with almost 20K miles isn't all that bad!

I wouldn't think twice, G35 coupe:

RWD, win
Better looking, win
will have a better aftermarket alone for the engine mods since it's common with the Z, win
Navi, who cares
First year model, concern
Better base for a performance coupe, win

I wish like hell my wife would have wanted to wait.

Normal trade-in is about 19k-20k. Good you got a deal. And also good you purchased it for less.

Sometimes they can give you more for your car in trade-in, and take $$ off of whatever your looking to buy. Easy to do, and makes the deal look better. Especially if you didn't bargain the Audi down. But it doesn't make the trade-in any better for our cars... Just $ pushed around. The CLS is about 6200 a year in depreciation so far. Saying you don't have a super deal on your CLS. For those of us whom purchased the car right after the release each year.

I've owned 8 vehicles, and this is one of the worst. Also in comparsion to my friends vehicles. However my one friend has me beat with his Lincoln Mark VIII. Now there's a car where you take it up the wazzu in resale.

G35. It's a brand new design and offers one helluva powerplant. While the G35 interior's obviously has its detractors, I think it's a push versus the Acura's exceptionally bland interior. As for depreciation, nothing in that price range drops as fast as an Inifiniti. Also, I hear from my Lexus rep in FL that G35 coupes and sedans are not exactly flying off the lots, which means better leverage for you! Use the force.

Ok I really appreciate all your help. I actually got back from test driving a cls 6Speed. I was impressed. It was very power full in first and second gear. I really did not have a chance to take it on a long good run. Although I did put a deposit of $500 Canadian so that they will let me take it out for a few hours tomorrow!!!
So what’s the top speed on a CLS 6Speed & what’s the 1/4 mile time on a stock CL-S 6Speed????????
I will let you all know how my adventure went. Also I am trying to get the G35 for a test drive.

Top speed is 147, quarter is published around 14.6 or so stock. In my opinion if money is an issue, get the CL-S. It's just as good in many ways and better in others and quite a bit less expensive. Also with headers and Supercharger you'll be way quicker and still be less $$
