wheel offset is in relation to the rim width and not the rim diameter. the cl is based off the 6th gen accords so i kinda know a thing or two. a 7.5" wide rim will need at minimum a +42mm offset and you should run 225 tires (215 is kinda thin for such a big car, while 235 is too wide). you can possibly move up to 8" wide rims but you will need at least a +45mm offset. for the two widths i just described, people with 50 offsets have reported no rubbing problems whatsoever. i ran 18x8s with a 44 offset and i had to shave about half of the rear fender lip off to make them work on my then 2000 accord coupe. you might be able to stick in 8.5s, since some accord owners have done so, but the offset will need to be sufficiently higher to negate the added rim width.
to figure out the largest rim width possible will require you to determine *frontspacing* and *backspacing* values taken directly from the wheel well with the wheel removed. the front of the rotors is the centerline, while you will need to adjust the values to account for obtrusions into the well. add the two values together and that will be thw max width. subtract this figure in half and you will get the wheel's centerline. with this value you will need to subtract the frontspacing value. what's left is the offset....multiply by 25.4mm to get the offset value in millimeters.
advans are nice, especially the multi-piece meshed designed siena gen IIs! any wheel can bend or crack due to road irregularities. advan does make sufficiently strong, but LIGHT, wheels and you can't go wrong picking these. a hookup on the gen IIs is about $3000 for 18s with tires...couple hundred more for regular purchase.
