acuracare warranty
I've decided I hate this warranty...
I purchased the 100K warranty a while ago. Over the weekend, one of my headlights decided that it needed a vacation(car is at 92k). Well, I finally got around to taking the car into the dealership today to get it fixed. The problem turns out to be that the inverter went bad - which according to the tech, took out the actual HID bulb. Well, the dealership calls the warranty place and they say basically we'll cover the inverter, but not the headlight. So, even though the inverter caused the headlight to blow - they said that they don't cover headlights.
This makes no sense to me. I can completely understand them not covering a headlight if it just blew - but to not cover one even though it's failure was caused by a covered part is just ridiculous.
Maybe I'm just confused and this is perfectly normal. Does this sound right to anyone else? My dealership helped out a bit by not making me pay labor on the bulb installation - but I'm currently still stuck with a $132 bulb to pay for. I'm supposed to have a supervisor call me back - I'm really not expecting that to happen...I'll need to dig out my contract tonight.

Sorry to hear about your problem with warranty.. Sometimes I don't know those extended warranties are worth it..

I used to drive 120/day - that is now down to 45/day ... so I've been saving some miles. I don't think the mileage had anything to do with the trannies - the first one was replaced at 82k, the second at 89k.
On the plus side - I did test drive the RL while I was stuck at the dealership - that thing is pretty sweet...I might have to get one when I get closer to 100K.

The warranty specifically says that NON-COVERED parts will be replaced if caused by the failure of a COVERED PART.
I’d photocopy your paperwork and point that out to them.

Thanks! I thought it was in there - of course, the lady on the phone told me that they don't cover the failure of non-warranteed parts regardless of why they failed - I believe her exact words were one of "we don't cover headlights" or "you didn't buy an insurance policy" when I asked her why they wouldn't cover the headlight.
I need to find my contract - it's in my house somewhere, but I haven't really looked for it since I moved, so that will take me a while to locate.
I opened a case with acura client services too - maybe they will be able to help.

Update -
I called Acura Care again and spoke to another rep - this one was much more helpful and actually said that the first rep. was wrong. He apologized for the trouble and is processing the authorization and I'll get a check back from the dealership.

I'm not really sure what she meant. She was trying to compare the warranty with an insurance policy in some vain attempt at getting me to accept the fact that no matter what I said she wasn't going to authorize the bulb to be replaced.
I wish I had gotten her name - she really doesn't deserve to have a job in "customer service".

If you have the extended warranty/still under factory warranty, the bulb should be covered as long as the inverter was determined to be the cause. The inverter was something like $475 dollars to replace.
