Actuator question...

What RPM should it open on a 6 speed? 3800? 4100? I'm testing mine to see if it works. I really dfon't think it does since my car has gotten slow.

Thanks

3800 RPM is the spec. But remember, the tach isn't perfect so give a little room. If it isn't open by 4500 you have a failed unit.

Ok Mine did open at about 4K RPM. Guess it's something else.
Thanks

What should I notice if I leave it in neutral and rev it to 3800-4500 + rpms???? Will I hear something, or does someone need to be looking under the hood at the same time???? I was wondering the same thing about my 6 speed. As a stock vehicle, should you notice a surge of power when you hit it. My powerband doesn't seem to have any surge, it just goes up.

How will I know if the actuator opens?? I have 10,000 on it now, but I did not really get on it for the first 6,000 miles or so. Barely reved it up to 4000 rpms, once in a while to 5000. Mechanic said I need to take it close to redline aonce a week, said it would probably be worse to baby the engine than do what it is suppossed to do. I don't know if maybe that could have something to do with it, not hitting vtec too many times in the first 5-6000 miles???

Just FYI, the Extremely Useful Topics forum has great information on such matters.

Thanks Scalbert. I have to test it out as I was wondering about that because I didn't feel anything. It prob works though. You got a sweet ride, by the way. Lots of hands on time = money spent. Same color as mine, perfect sleeper!!! I'm gonna get some headers and an icebox, all that other stuff's too rich for my blood. Gotta knock my payments out of the way first. Thanks.
