Accord navi disk doesn't work in CL :(

I picked up an accord navi disc... it don't work in CL

But it has TONS more information then the acura disk... in the accord I found millions more streets/cities with full coverage then in current acura disk.

where the FUCK is our upgrade? its been over a year since last release.

So much for me thinking that Honda / Acura would want to make it easy on themselves and have a Uni-disc that would work in all models (with the exception of the dealership locations --- but I wouldn't be against knowing where the Honda dealerships are too.)

I am crossing my fingers that the delay is due to MAYBE an upgraded interface ala the Accords. I know another thread mentioned it was a "minor" update but last years was a minor update and they had it out right when they said they would. That is why I am holding out hope that maybe Acura has something cookin'.

For the record I am banging my keys on my computer desk right now.

I'm not surprised Soopa. The Navi we have has to be at least what 5 years old as it made it's first appearance in the 99 TL's? Which means it had to have been developed at least 1 year before hand. Honda's prolly got a handle on the ni-disc solution now as the newe NAVI's will be based off the one similar to the one in the new accord. Come on man, admit it as good as our Navi is, it's old technology.

With that...in the '99TL the navi was a laptop harddrive, not a DVD Disc. I have a 350Z navi disc but I would assume it wouldnt work.

What would it take and cost to convert our navi to the Accord Navi? Just a thought. And all I am asking the the price from the dealer, no dealer labor involved. Cause we all know dealer labor is calculated by takeing the purchase price of the product and multiplying it by anywhere from 2 to 3 to get the cost of labor.

depends on if wiring has to be changed and shit.

if the computer works with our monitor, uses the same wires, and understands our buttons... it prolly wouldnt be too much.

How can I get town-by-town mapping info?

I remember a long time ago, somebody posted all the additional towns that were mapped on the "new" updated DVD.

Anyone have that info on the current DVD?

the 2 units may use the same wiring but i wouldnt be suprised if the Accord has an updated screen. it is bigger right? and the pics ive seen it looks like it has more colors as well, and possibly higher resolution. couldnt hurt to try swapping the trunk unit though, at least i dont think so

dave: our screen is full color and the resolution should be independent of the two screens.

need to try to find someone with a new accord that would be willin to try this.

not sure what you mean by "independent" of the two screens. LCD's have a set # of pixels. when you have a source with a resolution thats lower than the LCD's resolution, it get scaled up to match. if you have a source image with higher resolution than the LCD well you're flat out of luck, no matter what you do you're going to lose part of the image. if the new accords use a higher resolution than our screens then this swap isnt gonna work. but yea testing with someones new accord is the best way to find out. or better yet the new MDX nav so we can keep the Acura logo

updated DVD disc

So when is the last update currently out? And when is the next update due? Mine is still the stock DVD from when I bought it in Feb '01. I just bought a computer that has a dvdrw.. wonder if that will help me... I wonder if any of the old people from this list in the Bay Area may happen to be still on.... ?
