I am slowly piecing together the OEM gps system for the swap. I have tracked down a screen, and AC controls. I am in the works with getting the DVD drive, and a GPS antenna, but could i....

wire up the screen and the AC unit (run the wires for the DVD drive but not actually have one connected yet) and still use the screen for the AC unit touch screen? or does the DVD drive need to be accessed for boot up?

 

You need the DVD unit hooked up

 

do I need a DVD in the drive? I am about to get my hands on the DVD unit, but for a while I wont have money to get the DVD for it.

 

My AC worked fine with no DVD.

 

The AC should work. You will not have speed & direction controls however. The auto setting will work with the set temperature.
