965 HP stock! MG
965 HP stock! MG
From autoexpress:
For sports car fans there is only one star of the British Motor Show 2002 - and this is it. Just a few miles from its base in Birmingham, MG Rover has taken the wraps off its most incredible coupé, the XPower SV. With outrageous styling and a roll cage in every model, even the entry-level car has 325bhp. Flagship versions will boast an astonishing 965bhp and factory-approved nitrous oxide injection kits!
The car pictured, which is wowing the crowds at the firm's NEC stand, is in Club Sport spec and features a 5.0-litre V8. Delivering 465bhp, the Ford-sourced engine is mated to a six-speed Tremec gearbox. Together they are capable of offering more than 200mph. The price for such power? An eye-watering £85,000. The enormous rear wing, functional air vents, twin chromed exhaust tailpipes and 18-inch OZ alloys are the most distinctive features of the rear-wheel-drive car, which is street legal.
Inside, the SV is kitted out with race seats, harnesses, steering wheel and pedals by Sparco. The spare wheel is located behind the seats, along with storage nests for two crash helmets.
The £65,000 entry-level model will get a leather interior and carpeted stowage space behind the seats. Underneath the bonnet will be a 325bhp 4.6-litre V8 mated to a five-speed manual box, powering the car from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and on to a 170mph top speed.
And while that rear wing and front air dam won't be standard, both will be sold as options. That means, apart from the interior, our exclusive shots reveal how the best-selling version will look. Don't expect to see many, though, as MG Rover plans to make only 110 to 120 cars annually over four years.
The SV is based on the firm's X80 concept which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. That in turn was inspired by the Qvale Mangusta, which MG Rover bought the rights to 18 months ago. The SV will go on sale in April, with a 300bhp automatic version available later. A range of models to suit all tastes will also launch next year. Every one, apart from the 'base' 325bhp version, will be a Club Sport, and all can be made road legal.
They start with a 410bhp 5.0-litre V8 variant, but ultimately there will be a 765bhp variant using the engine from MG's ZT Bonneville race car. Power will then be boosted to a staggering 965bhp with nitrous oxide injection. The Bonneville will attempt to break various land speed records on the Utah salt flats in the US next year.
Launching the SV in Birmingham is important for MG Rover, as design director Peter Stevens explained: "It's where we're based and we get enormous support locally. This car tells people that MG is fit and well."

Dunno why looks a little Ford Mustangish along with Z and Audi influences.. over $100K for only 325 hp.. hmmm. I dunno.. also needing nitrous to achieve that 965 is kinda weak.. although 765 n/a is nice =)
