60k scheduled maintenance

is there any reason at the 60k miles sched. maint. i cant look in the owners manual and check all the items listed to check myself? is there any advantage going to the dealer(i have 59700 and have heard certain things are under warranty until 60k) or is it just a rip off. i am a new cl type s owner and new to this website/forum. any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated as i have been looking at your site here for a month or so and it seems like its very helpful, for me at least

thanks

The 60k service is mostly stuff you can do yourself.

• Change the oil
•Rotate the tires
• Replace oil filter
• Inspect the brakes
• Check parking brake adjustment
• Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots
• Inspect suspension components
• Inspect driveshaft boots
• Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
•Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks
• Inspect cooling system hoses and connections
• Inspect exhaust
• Inspect fuel lines and connections
• Replace air cleaner element
• Inspect and adjust drive belts
• Replace dust and pollen filter

Most of that stuff they do when ya go into the dealership for an oil change anyways. Just change the cabin air filter, engine air filter, oil & filter, and check fluids and your good. No reason to pay the stealership big money to do it.

hahaha stealership, thats great. thats exactly what they are. thanks for the response im just gonna go after work today and pick up a box of honda atf zi trany fluid and go change the oil/and fiter and then just drain the old tranny fluid and put the new stuff in. any suggestions on that other than just lettin the old out and in with the new. 9 quarts will drain through 3 times right??? and after the third time through do i let it stay in or let it out and put the remaining 3 bottles form the case that are left into the tranny??? any more help would be awesome. i just dont want to mess up the tranny cuz i heard at the "stealership" they attach some sort of vacuum hose to it to suck the fluid out. my friend has one but wants 100 bucks to do it, is it even worth it or should i just do the flush with the bottles etc i mentioned?

thanks alot

yea its unreal they can even look me in the face and tell me they want 375 dollars for such a bs amount of work. half, more than half actually of the things they said that i should "pay"them for consists of standing around looking at my car while the oil drains-i dont think so stealership!

Yeah, TheWeez pretty much summed it up...

Maintenace schedule is here: http://john-perry.com/acurazine/docu...aintenance.pdf

I've got 59K miles, so I'll get my tires rotated (for free from the place I bought them from), get my oil changed ($25 from the quicky joint down the street), and do the pollen filters myself (like I did last time). I don't need to worry about the air filter yet since I got a K&N.

and the dealership wanted $500 for the above

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168249

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173517

Oh, and the pollen filters should be cheaper this time if I can find the bosch ones instead of the more expensive purulator ones...

I have to rememeber to inspect the brake fluid. I might actually have someone flush that, as it's on the maintenance schedule (@ 3 years) and I've had my CL for 4 1/2 years.... Probably could use a handbrake adjustment too, but that's easy enough to do (even tho' inskip acura screwed it up).

Price for the Purolator are here (same thread I linked above):

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173517

Price for the bosch are here in the FAQ forum:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=pollen

I think someone told me they found the bosch at autozone either in another thread or via PM...

I got your PM, and agree that a tranny flush is a good idea. I've got a 6spd, so I'm not going to do one, but with an automatic, it can't hurt. Search for flush or check out the forum dedicated to the auto transmissions...

i can get the tranny fluid changed at a honda dealership also, correct? they use the same type of fluid i would guess? i plan to just change the tranny fluid at 60k, even tho they say not to until over 100k. (i have 58k miles, not on original tranny, had tranny changed once b/c of recall but it didn't fail on me, they just replaced it after looking at the gears with the camera)

reason is that the honda dealership near my place is considerably cheaper than the acura stealership.

Yes the Honda dealer will perform the same service and for a better price.

will a regulart tranny specialty shop be able to do it for cheapest if you buy the fluid form the dealer and then just take it to the shop? or is there something special the dealer does, ie tools or some specialty device?
