600 a month for insurance-Help

I just got my new insurance quote today and they told me 600 a month and 640 down. This is with MAIF state insurance. What can I do? Any Ideas? Iam not paying that much unless I'm driving a Ferarri. Worst case scenario I will buy an 87-93 mustang and put it on liability, which I don't want to do.

HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP

Thanks

Your record must be,....

Well buy an 87-93 mustang and put it on liability, and clean your record up. Only time w/o tickets can do that.

I have similar issues, but not that bad.

Holy crap, dude. Accidents and tickets on your record, or are you 18? My insurance is $1180/yr., or about $98/mo. through State Farm. Have you gotten quotes (online) from other companies? Shop around. Do a Google search for auto insurance or something...

I am 22 I have 3 pts on my liscense, and I totaled an MR2 spyder after owning it for only 11 days, it still had paper tags. I also totaled an audi A6 but that was when I was 16. I called Progressive and they told me $800 a month. I have been paying 420 a month which I thought was rediculous. But now the shit's getting out of hand. The mustang may just cause more tickets.
I am waiting on State Farm to get back to me. I have 3 days to find a cheaper rate.

Fuck it I'm going to pay for comprehensive and liability. I was thinking of upgrading cars not downgrading. I don't owe anything on the CL. So if i wreck i'll fix it on my own. I might even buy a new car I'm not letting these punks put me in a bucket. Or on the bus. LOL

1) Get yourself some glasses, or contacts...or even LASIK

2) Put down the bottle

3) Take a driving course

Follow my advice and you'll be on your way to much cheaper insurance in a few years

You sound so cavalier. When in fact, the message you should be getting from all this is you are a menace on the road and you are irresponsible. You are asking someone (insruance company) to trust you that you are not a risk and you are having an impossible time of getting anyone to believe it.

The shit is getting out of hand now? Does that mean your driving has improved so much that you can't understand why your rates haven't come down similar to the rest of our rates?

You even admit that a mustang will cause more insurance which is impossible since a car can't get you tickets and accidents, it's the driver. It's you and you are admitting you can't control that car.

You don't need low insurance. I hate to say it but you NEED to have sky-high insurance. If anyone is insane enough to give you low insurance rates, they are contributing to your continued and future recklessness and irresponsible driving. But high and higher rates WILL help to torque you down. But as far as I am concerned, you are a reckless teenage driver just like the rest of those idiots I see driving around here as if they are impervious. You have crashed more cars than I have in over 20 years of driving.

So you can post back and call me all kinds of names and tell me to mind my own f'in business or who are you to...? Whatever. Somebody needs to tell you. Instead of flaming me back, spend some time finding some affordable insurance or making plans to sort out your crisis. And consider what Smitty said....walk.

Great post ken!

And take it from someone who knows.....many years ago, when I was young, I had high rates.....I didn't own a brand new car until I was 28 years old because the rates were so high. I am older, wiser and safer.....and my rates now reflect that.

With a record like that, I would expect high insurance too.

All of you guys who don't want to be on the road with me. You better watch out when I am riding GSXR-1000 or driving the 911 turbo, check the sig in the first post. No insurance company is going to slow me down. By the way I haven't wrecked in two years. I have no DUI or DWI's. I'll have something with 4 wheels running 11's real soon.

Gee, no wonder you have a bad record...you obviously don't learn. Wrecked a couple cars, a few speeding tickets and you still talk trash like the $400+ a month insurance isn't enough for you to pay?

Try public transportation for about 5 years and then see what your insurance costs. Or try moving to another state!

Jeez...I have had my fair share of tickets (4) and accidents (2) in the 15 years I have been driving and I only pay around $800 a year in MA for my insurance.

GMAC

When I had my CLS i was with Geico and State Farm, I was paying 400 a month in maryland. To many f'in speed freaks out here and way TOO many accidents. Unless your car is paid for, DC-VA-MD insurance is high if you live outside Montgomery County, MD period.

Switch to GMAC Insurance. My insurance dropped to about 150 a month when I was 24 from the middle 400's. When I 25 insurance dropped to 94 bucks a month. I traded in and got an SUV and now I am paying 88 a month fully insured.

2001 w/ the typeS and a 89 plymouth accliam that dont' even move (as my primary car on insurance) i was paying 300/month @ all state. w/ out the acclaim my insurance would of been close to 550 month for the typeS.

now w/ the 740 by it self it was going to be 650/month and 450 month w/ the accliam @ all state. I havn't gotten any tickets since my 8500, 2 years ago. and i switched to geico, now its 150 / month for my 740 & accliam , if I do just teh 740 then its 400 bucks.

1/2 coverage on the acclaim btw.

I am 24 and I pay like 600 a month. Have no choice. I got 3 points for speeding and gotten into a small accident. It pretty much the same because a lot of places won't consider taking me because of my record. That wat sucks, under 25, got points, and got an accident. Almost all insurance companies don't want to get near you. I have statefarm. Pretty much one of the few companies that I can get. I think you might have been moved to assigned risk. Sucks being in there, but there is hope for me, i be turning 25 in Sep, my points should expire about then, and my record should clean up by then. Hope that helps

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll let you know what happens I only have a couple days to make a move. This 600 a month is the cheapest I could find. The most expensive was Geico at $1010 a month. I did find out that if I got a Lancer Evolution I could pay only $438 a month for full coverage. I guess they see that it's a four door/ four cylinder.

Nova I need to get an acclaim too!!!!!

no the problem with the evo and sti for that matter (same problem the other guy on here who that said he is getting an evo is gonna have) is that they list the evo as a lancer for about the first 6mos to a year and then adjust accordingly.. same for the wrx and sti. i called and got a quote for the wrx and asked about an sti and she said it was the same because its a new car but it will probably change once they do their little time trial thing on the new model.

Walking won't help, you need to be driving to help your future insurance rates. Just get a old beater and only put liability on it. I didn't get my first new car until I was 25, until that point I just had 2 used cars, a 1983 280zx and after that one was totaled by a woman who shouldn't have been driving ran a red light I ended up with a 1980 Buick Century (A TANK).

Jesus, i thought i had it bad when i had to go to a new company and my rates went from 120/month to 200/month, and those were the cheapest rates, all the others were in the range of 300-350. Currently im paying 105 for full coverage with one speeding ticket which will come off next month and im 21. If a insurance company told me i had to pay 600 a month i would sell the car and get a bike or a moped the hell with paying 7200/year for ins.

Not like anyone else hasn't said something similar already, but take a few moments to think about why your rates are so high. Sure, insurance companies are about making money, but so are we. I had 3 tickets and an accident in about 7 or 8 months in '01 and '02. My insurance sucks giant donkey balls ($2700 a year, Progressive, and I'm 30), but it's my own damn doing. I haven't been stopped in over a year, and it's because I'm much more responsible about my driving. One hell of an expensive lesson to learn, but sometimes it's the only way some of us learn.
