3rd brake light won't STFU

so for the past few days my car has been making this GOD awful squeaky noise right from what appeared to be the 3rd brake light. so i took out the rear seats, console, back seats and the piece covering around the 3rd brake light. removed the 3rd brake light to find the culprit is a broken tab!!! all that annoyance cause of a stupid 1 mm tab...i drove the car each time i removed anything from the back and once the 3rd brake light was removed there was no sound. which is how knew it was the 3rd brake light was

SO.. if u got a PITA creak/squeak coming from the back center of ur CL.. odds are its the 3rd brake light.

the reason it's so likely to squeak is cause it is 2-3 pieces all clipped together and if everything isn't perfect it will shift as u hit bumps and then the plastic makes the worst sound imaginable... i wanted to shoot my car the last 5 days... thankfully i can holster that

hope this helps

On the topic of annoying squeaking....

I have one that took me some time to trace. Turns out the body shop that replaced the passenger airbag never put the nuts on the three studs that hold the airbag down.

there's nothing worse than a frigging rattle.. it's such a small problem technically but it really fucks up the driving experience. and music can only be played so loud, so often

That would have not been fun if that thing went off in an accident.

I agree that rattles are annoying. I find this to be the best way to fixing them:

LOL but some ppl like silence. i only listen to music in my car i.e it's not a big part of my life.

Driving with no rattles and just the subtle rumble of the motor is much more pleasing in many cases.

I know what you mean. Most times the rumble from the exhaust is enough.

My sunroof, dash, and rear deck rattle. I have no energy to fix them all. When it warms up, the rattles lessen, so I just hope for warm weather.

I have this problem with my spoiler 3rd brake light, I think i've seen a "great stuff" fix by someone on a 2g tl, where in they just filled the hollow spoiler with it lol I might have to give that a try, dynomat hasn't done the job.

i also just took apart my armrest to find the reason it was wobbling all over the place was because of 2 loose bolts holding the track to the guiding mechanism !!! tightened them up good and now it's got about 1/3rd the play it had. I KNOW a lot of you CLers have the same damn problem cause mine had been like this since i got the car!!! thought it was normal until today when i went to install a new armrest cover and found the culprit!!!!

hopefully this help some of u folks out..!!!
