3M headlight restoration kit

Of course my headlights seem to be fogged up so I feel it is time for a headlight restoration. My dad use to work for 3M so he swears by thier product that it is the best. Has anyone else used it and how were the results? Thanks

IMO I've used the 3M kit to restore one of my fog lights..it worked flawlessly as long as you follow the directions!!

The Lens looked brand new besides minor small chips from pebbles/debris...they were only visible up close...

Another thing is you can buy replacement sand paper for the drill attachment!!

It works much better on pitted and worn lenses since it is drill driven rather than by hand like others. The three grits and compound are very effective. And don't be shy about using some drill speed as I got better results w/ my plug in Porter Cable than w/ my cordless.

Can I use it for my tail light? Goo Off left a nice white layer over it, and it won't come off. I'm serious.

It will haze again in a short while. I know I've done my passenger one 2 times with this kit. Yes I did put polish on it to protect after I finished. There will be no 3rd. Replacement will happen.

I guess its the type of plastic the headlight is made of. My CL has hazed a bit over 5 months where my LS430 lights done at the same time remain very clear.
No big deal, I'm gonna use the 3M again and try to protect w/ Sylvania UV block clear coat.

goof off basically chemically is the equivalent of taking a fine sandpaper to the light. you need to compound/polish and then protect. I know this from experience.

Uhmm, I don't know if you understand. I used goof off for my debadge, but it poured down onto my tail light. I tried to wash it off, but it left a white film over the entire tail light. What can I do to remove the film.

I obviously didn't use goof off to clean the tail light lol

Just got done using it....and its amazing. Took about 2 hours, the first hour trying to get the product from walmart since they said they had it online but of course it wasnt on the shelves....so i online ordered it and picked it up 40 minutes later. The whole process was simple, attach the bits and take your time. The more precise you are with making sure all the old stuff is off, the lense will look amazing. Im done now and the headlights look brand new, the real test will be tonight to see how much light I havnt had in awhile. Ill use this on all my parents cars now also.

Okay my 3M job on my CL-S did haze a bit over the past 5 months-but still much better when I did the hand wet sand job. Anyway I figured it needed a coating so I got the Sylvania kit to try.

So today I did the 3M procedure again and got good clarity, but could not remove all the little white pits. Then I prepped and applied the Sylvania UV blocker which actually wipes on to form a hard clear shell. Damn, but the clarity went up a couple notches. You don't realize how much diffraction there is until you wipe this on. Its like adding anti-glare coating to a watch crystal. All the little white pits are filled and the finish is smooth. I am hoping that this coating will make the work last longer, but the added clarity was unlooked for.
