3M Clear Bra

Does anyone have any experience with this product? I know it's expensive but might be worth it. Opinions?

Definately worth the cost...especially if you do a lot of freeway driving...after a few weeks you won't even notice it's there...until you take a rock hit from a dump truck and it bounces off instead of taking your paint off down to the metal. I've had it for eight months...it's probably saved me a couple grand in body work.

I have it and it's been great. Looks good though you do have to be more careful with wax as the line does show a bit.

If you have the money and you are worried about rock hits, you should definitely get it. I know that it's one thing I'll continue to get on any new car I buy. It looks much better than globs of touch up paint. But as CLSter said - it catches a ton of wax that makes it more apparent, if you aren't careful or are too lazy to clean it up(like I am).

I love it, and it is very hard to see until you get close to the car.

Beelzebub, did you have the headlights done as well? My headlights don't look as clear as yours with the Stoneguard.

What color car? I think you said red. How does the Ininiti paint hold up? Ask on an Infiniti bbs. I wish I had it on the black Acura but if it was a silver I might have said no.

Prices vary widely (labor esp.). I don't remember since I had it thrown in with the purchase of the car. I do remember the dealership had to knock off $150 because I have a credit union loan and for some reason the credit union has a deal where they can't rip me off as much as anyone else.

I got the headlight protection because I saw a few gouged plastic covers on the CL.

From what I have researched so far the basic kit is about $150 and that includes the hood, fenders, and rear side view mirrors. There is a deluxe kit for about $250 that has all the pieces for the lower grill etc. Do a search on Google for 3M Clear Bra and all sorts of stuff pops up. My CL is a mass of chips in the front from mostly salt and dump trucks. I took a hit on the windshield the other day and it took a small chunk out of the passenger side windshield. Gotta have that fixed before I turn it in.

After you pay for the kits, you can either do it yourself (not sure what it entails) or pay someone to do it. Ziebart quoted me $150-$200 to install.

Beelzebub (Beetle Juice, one of my favorites), who installed yours. It looks good. I have seen it on a BMW M3 at this year's CES and it looked good as well. To remove, you have to heat the surfaces to 150 degrees and it peels off. I wonder what is involved in putting it on?

Hey Mike, how're YOU doin'? It's red. The boys at www.6MT.net have the same complaints about the paint chipping easily. Someone responded that the EPA is at the root of the paint problem requiring them to be more environmentally friendly. They aren't car guys at the EPA.

Well worth it IMO. I have it and have only one chip on the front end of my car after 20k miles, 95% of which are on the freeway. And that one chip was due to a rock or something that actually was sharp enough and moving fast enough to go through the clear bra.

I have it an my 6sp. I watched the guy do it, too. They are essentially big stickers. They wet the surface so they can move them around and trim to exact fit. I had the hood, bumper, lights, rearviews, door handle cups and door sills (spelling) done.

It's expensive for sure. I hope it works out well in the long run.

For those of you who have it. Make sure you keep it waxed. Bird shit stains it so keep it clean, too. Use Meguiar's Quick Wax on it.

For those who have it, did any of you do it yourself? The kits are available from a company in San Diego.
