quick e brake question
quick e brake question
how do i adjust my e brake. Right now it just stops my wheels from stopping. Whenever i park on a hill my car rolls back a little and when i move my lever from park to reverse i hear a loud clicking sound. any help would be great.
the e-brake is self-adjusting...in order to "train" it, in a controlled situation, back up, and while backing up, engage the e-brake at max capacity
i just adjusted mine last night from my driveway...just make sure yer in Neutral when yer ready to engage the e-brake
as far as the clicking noise goes, it sounds normal to me if it's the noise i'm thinking of...try this: when u stop to park, put it into Neutral first, then engage the e-brake...let go of the brake pedal completely and wait for about 1 second...then put yer foot on the brake again and throw it into Park...what's the purpose u ask??? simple...what yer doing is allowing most, if not, all the weight of the car to rest up against the e-brake, NOT the Parking brake, so yer really saving the integrity of the Parking brake...that may help in reducing/eliminating the clicky/clunky sound

anyone have problems engaging/setting the e-brake?
Even though I apply even pressure, it takes like three+ times to set it. Annoying as heck.
Is there a fix it solution w/o going to dealer?

The e-barke is NOT self-adujusting... It is a freaken solid metal cable!! In fact 2 cables, not 1. One cable for each rear wheel.
As per HELMS service manual. On Autos: There a 2 ways to ajust the e-brake.
1) 1 knob on the e-brake foot brake pedal that you can twist clockwise to do minor adjustements.
2) On rear hubs, there are screws to adjust for major adjustments.
Do the first one.
