30k service (whats the CV Boot?)

Had my 30k mile service - West Chester Acura did a nice job...Total came to $252.81

They replaced my non working dome light fixture and ordered a new rear locking compartment because the lock was broken and they also had to order a CV Boot Kit...My question is - What the Hell is that?

Is it important and more importantly - Is it safe for me to be riding around w/ a broken CV Boot while Im awaiting the new part????

And I got a real reson to get new wheels now - besides all the scuffs on the wheels....I have a bubble in one of the tires Therefore, it only makes sense to go out and get an 18" wheel/tire package - right

HEY! Were you on lancaster ave today? In the evening?

CV boot is just the rubber piece that covers the CV joint. You'll be ok.

LOL! Nah i was at the traffic light behind you where you turned off lancaster and made a right at the McDonalds right before the ferrari dealership. I saw the comptech sport sticker on the back and wanted to honk but i've done that in the past and people look at me like i'm crazy. Car looks good! Coming to the meet this weekend?

I'm wondering how in the world did you get a torn CV boot with only 30k miles on it?! My Accord V6 has nearly 80K miles and they are still intact.

Just out of curiousity, was it making a "popping" sound? Ive got this "popping" sound coming from my right rear shock/spring/cvjoint and im not sure which it could be, so far nothing on the car handles differently, but it sort of annoying...

Nope - It isn't making any sound ( I am still waiting on the part to come in) - The only thing I have noticed different is that the alignment is off...but no sounds

The boot only holds all the grease for the CV joint itself. I wouldn't be taking any long trips with it torn.

I had my shop in for it's 7500 checkup and they had to order me a new CV boot for the passenger side. I hope it's not a cls issue.

As long as you don't start hearing a "clicking sound" when turning. If so, say hello to a new cv joint!!!
