3 way action ¤ Me, G35 sedan, V6 camaro

So I was on my way home from seeing "The Terminal" w/ my lady (which was pretty good, btw ), and I got off the 101 N at topanga to go north bound. As I pass the Promenade mall, I'm in the far right lane and theres a v6 camaro in the far left. Neither of us give a rat's ass about what's goin on, as we're just crusinin along doin our own thing. Next thing we both know, a G35 sedan rolls up in between the both of us and the driver and his passenger look over at me and start eggin me on. He pushes on the gas and lets off a good 3-4 times to signal to race. Finally, I decide to do the same, but RIGHT after I do, the upcoming light turns red....Let the games begin!

Light is red, exhausts are expelling, and hearts are racing. I'm in the far right lane, G35 sedan in the far left, and the V6 camaro now in the middle. I turn off my VSA and slap it into SS mode. The left turn light turns green and the G35 starts to move, but realizes that our light is still red. This gave me the incentive to take off as soon as the light turns green. The Camaro and the G35 seem to be torque braking, but I stook there motionless. The light turns green and we're off! I floor it and peel out for a good 2-3 seconds, along with the other two. My lane merges into the middle lane to make it into only 2 lanes. By the end of first gear, the camaro is quite a few car lenghts back, and the G35 is about 1/2 - 1 car length back ( I hate how SS shifts from 1-2 at only like 6700 rpm ). Anyways, I then hit the top of 2nd gear and shit prematurely at about 6700 as well *dumbass* and by this time, I'm a good 2 - 2 1/2 cars ahead of the G35, and miles ahead of the camaro . Finally I reach to about the middle of 3rd gear (around 80-85mph) and the G35 shuts down, and the camaro is no where in sight. By the time he shut down, I was about 3-4 car lenghts ahead and I was quickly pulling more away from him . I have no doubt that if we took it to the top of 3rd I would have been 5+ car lengths ahead.

So, that's my story of the night. This was my first race since putting in the CT headers, CT icebox and CT sways. I was absolutely ecstatic after the race. But yeah...so now I wanna try a g35c as I know it will be a MUCH closer race; if anything I'll lose :\.

Got a question for you guys. Does your heart literally RACE before, during, and after you race, and also kinda sweat? I get so fucking nervous I guess about getting pulled over or whatnot. It's the weirdest shit. I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack or something, lol. Anyways, hope you enjoyed my story!

`John

btw, I forgot to mention....after the G35 shut down...I slowed down too so that we can pull up along one another and I could say 'good race', you know...but the fucker slowed WAYYYYYYYYY down and never came near me. I guess he was ashamed, I dunno? Kinda bummed me out because I love the G35; it's such a sweet car. Either way, a good race, I just didn't like the guy racing me

Nice kills, but I find it hard to believe you beat the G35 by 3-4 cars. It was definitely an auto, but 3-4 cars and maybe even 5?

A racing heart and sweating are natural when your sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive (and it most certainly is a thrill).

BTW, nice kill on the G35 sedan.....from my experiences, our 3rd gear is a bit stronger than theirs, so you probably would have widened the gap slightly if you kept going.

Woah woah now guys be very careful with your statements...the G35 sedan is a fast car always underrated here. Last night my buddy came down with his lowered G35 sedan with borla exhaust and a stillen intake, along with some other exhaust modification, just replacing some pipe with a magnaflow or something. Anyways I am lowered and have aem intake. We made a couple runs and even though I hung in there quite well from a 40-95 he had me by about 2 car lengths. He started pulling in 3rd gear!!! if we kept going he would have kept pulling slowly. Our best chance is from a first gear roll --5-10mph....as I stayed with him the whole time although he did hit rev limiter for a second, but it was a lot closer. Overall I was happy that I kept up decently although at the higher speeds he started increasing his lead. With headers I am confident that we would be even or I would beat him. He ran a 14.61 in 83 degree weather and 90% humidity.

aight coo, atleast I'm not the only one, heh. And I'm not exaggerating one bit on the car lengths...If I was still pulling by mid 3rd gear, don't you think once I hit VTEC I'll just keep pulling? I mean he wasn't sticking with me one bit. Don't forget I have the headers & intake. On my car they made a pretty damn big difference. Moreover, he DID have 1 extra passenger, which sure, doesn't do a HUGE difference, but I still keep that in my memory bank. I was up on the G35 forums last night and alot of them say the G35 sedan auto is a tad quicker than the G35 coupe auto. I don't know if that's true, but that's what I read. Alot of them run around the 14.5 area with the sedan.

Oh, and I have NO idea whether or not he was stick or auto. The way he took off at the line seemed as though he had stick, but I don't know.

About being careful, trust me I know. I street race maybe once a month or even two. I don't like the whole idea, but this was an offer I couldn't refuse!!

If he was driving a stick then he didnt know wtf he was doing...stick they are fast and you would lose if he could drive..must have been a stock auto G35.

Renegade, please tell me something; why MUST I have lost if he was stick? The G35 stick, if driven properly, should run low 14's, no? There are guys on here with JUST I/H that ran low 14's as well, with 5AT. Now I haven't gone to the track, so I can't tell you, but that gives me some idea that it's possible. So why MUST I have lost if he was a stick? Just doesn't make sense man.

Hahah damn you make me laugh...a good driver in a g35 sedan will consistently run low 14's...with intake and headers sure you may run a 14.3 in your AT once in a while, but think of it this way most of the time he is going to beat you....so if it was a stick and you had him by 3-4 cars and 5+ at the end of the 3rd gear theres two options....his car is automatic stock, or his car is stick and hes still learning how to drive.

look man, you're obviously taking me the completely wrong way...I never said that if he were a stick I'd have beaten him by 3-4, even 5+ carlengths, did I? No. You stated that IF he were stick, I would lose; PERIOD. I argued your brief comment with a rather good explanation showing that the race would be close, and would be up to the driver. All you said is that I will lose. So I don't know what you're laughing at; and btw, thanks for the support

Holy shit are you stupid, you said you thought he was stick...all im saying is in your race he was not stick, because you wouldnt beat a stick by 3-4-5 car lengths. Then I said the only way your right and he is a stick is if he couldnt drive. Lastly it was good that you blew a stock automatic G35 away, but he was not stick. If you raced a g35 stick it would be a close race, but if its a person who can drive 75% of the time you would lose.

no I'm not fucking stupid, I said he MIGHT have been, regardless I'm pretty fucking sure he was auto. Look, most likely he was auto and I'm almost for certain he was stock, which is what I'm going by. All I'm saying is that you're assuming too much, and that there is room for possibility that I could beat a stick g35. As mentioned it comes down to the driver. I'm not bashing the G35 one fucking bit, if anything I love the damn car, and I realize it's a FAST car. I just thought you jumped the bandwagon way too quickly. But hey, to each their own.

first off calm the fuck down...

Secondly, what I'm referring to is that you said I will lose to a stick G35, period. Unless I race one, or a few for that matter, how can you say that? That's all I was getting at.

you didn't make any valid point..all you said was pretty much "stick will own you"..yeah watever maybe thats possible but there's a lot more room for error in a manual car, and yes i know you clarified "with a good driver"..but why are you even bringing in that whole issue..he killed a g35 so let him have his moment of glory..if you're gonna be a little bitch and bring in some bullshit "if it was manual" shit...then why don't you talk about what would happen if it raced a cls 6 spd. im sick of people on this forum who discredit g35 kills..what happened happened..deal with it

The Sedans run low 14s at 97-101 traps, depending on driver in all conditions. 6MT, now if it was a auto, mid 14s, at 96-97 mph is the norm. Have you been to the track yet? I suggest you do so.

yea, I've never been to the strip before, and I most likely never will, lol. I'm too nervous to do it. Plus, LACR is the closest one to me and your times are about .5 sec slower than normal, so I won't have a COMPLETELY correct time.

What track have you seenstock auto G sedans trapping that high, what I typically see is from 93-95mph. Both here in Texas and in Cali?

Look at the G35 club forums.

The Auto G35 is almost as fast as the 6spd. The autos are tuned just right.

Some guy just ran 14.2 and 14.3 at 97~ trap speed in a auto with K&N drop in and z tube.

I have a 6spd g35 sedan, and ran 14.32 at 98.6 mph bone stock. 2.2 60ft, still trying to learn my launch.

Actually technically you don't know what you run till you do, so don't assume you run low 14s or 14s at all. Go to the track and get a slip.

What mods do you have so we know.
