3.2 CLS vs 330i

Me and my friend had a alittle race and i lost by about 1 feet. Both stock, I didn't have the cai at this time cause i gave it too a friend and planning to get a AEM cai the following few days. He turned off his traction and brake/gas from stop. In other words he did a burn out. I had traction on and I just floored it on 3. He jumped about half a car length, then i caught up with him on second gear. We stopped at about 150-160 km/h. Think I could have passed him if I used his way to start and with traction off?
My friends there said that if I still had the CAI I could have passed him.

If his 330 is Automatic you Should win... your need to turn VSA OFF...

If his is Manual... well, then it comes down to the drivers I believe.

Yeah VSA matters a lot. If a wheels loses any traction the VSA cuts power, almost like you let off the gas.

Anytime you race from a stop turn traction control off. You would have easily won that race.

If the VSA sense a wheel spin on both tire, the system will retard the engine(bringing the power of the engine down) to prevent wheel spin right?

VSA retards the timing and applies braking to the tire that is spinning in an effort to maintain traction.

While you may be able to keep up with a 330 from a stop....don't try him on the highway, it won't be pretty, especially north of 100mph.

My girlfriends 1.8T Beetle pulls harder over 100 than the CL-S does... i can just get to 100 a lot faster

but once there if we were next to each other at 105+ (4th gear) she would pull harder

Well thanks for all the info. I am putting in the AEM CAI (red) tomorrow. And will play him again (that is if he will), i'll still won't do his gas/brake method for the jump but i'll have VSA off for sure. Also had a little race with a heavily mod VW 1.8T Bora and lost by a car length. I later discovered that my friend knew the guy in the 1.8T. He told be he had custom catback Remus exhaust, headers, upgraded turbo and shit. Oh well i was all stock when i raced him. His car was mod and lighter than mine, what can i do

Heheh i'd love that too. Are they legal in the states? I know that they're not here in Canada, but i have seen some civics with them. If i really did have nos in my car, it would be 330i no problem
