ill put in my 2 cents...one of the weakest links in the cl-S is the tires...ill say this...there's no stock 6mt maxima gonna beat me 3 out of 10 runs...in my auto headers /cai and toyo T1-s' and i would put money on that...i know theres a couple guys over at max .org that live in my area 2k2se i think is one, if he's stock...we could meet at sunshine speedway ...personally i like the maxima...it and the GT stang are my two closest rivals...and i like anyone who's an auto enthusiast, what ever your brand of choice...
2 more mods's and im breaking into the 13's all motor..

From personal experience I'd say whoever gets a better traction of the line will win this race....But' I dont see why you guys are making such a big deal of this. Both cars are great and fast for the money, and so what if one is a little faster than the other...
There are plenty of other cars who can kick the living crap out of
CL and Maxima, but it doesn't make them a better car, just faster...

Maxrpm, dont mind him ... he's having his time of the month

Can we, car lovers, just get along?
Little boys don't bother me....my message was meant for those that don't have penis envy such as yourself.

Anyhow, like we both said we would have a better idea of how the cars compare in terms of speed rather then going by silly anecdotal evidence from hearsay or magazines influenced by their advertisers.

Shane owes me a race for sure
If I can beat Shane, then that'll resolve a lot of things for me. You remember with my CL-S shane would whip me through and through. when i got the headers and CAI, he'd still get me off the line by 2-3 car lengths, i'd eventually reel him in a surpass him, but I think we were way past the quarter mile at that point.

If my 2k2 does better, I'll know what to expect from a CL-S.

Ouch, if it makes you feel better, I drove without insurance for about 3 years+. They wanted 10000/yr for my 300ZX TT.

I was looking to buy a CL-S 6-speed this week, but it wasn't as fast as my Max was when it was stock. I know that when it is broken-in it will be faster than a stock auto Max, but my intake/exhaust Max auto would still put a beating on it. I ran 14.44@95mph bone stock. I know that that is just me and the average is 14.7, but I am comparing what I ran in MY car to what I would run in a CL-S if I were to buy one. Don't get me wrong, I really like the CL-S. If comptech headers came on the car from the dealer, a CL-S would be in my driveway.

Peace,
Daniel

when you guys say average cls runs 15.0 and the max runs 14.8 what are the reaction times???? i've seen some time slips posted on this board with 15.0-15.2 but with horrible reaction times. i went to englishtown last weekend and ran 14.742 at 94.09 with a reaction time of .641 pretty good for my first time .500 being a perfect jump but if reaction times are getting up in the .8 to 1.0 that is already .3 to .5 tenths of your quarter soo in conclusion i think the max's numbers are on perfect runs. with good jumps floor on the last yellow we can shut these guys up:P

R/T has nothing to do with time but it will win you some races...the clock doesnt start till you trip the beam....and .500 is perfect on a sports man ...my quater mile uses a pro tree .400 would be perfect there...

Hi guys

Well let's see...

CL-S 5A: 15.0-15.1
Max 4A: 14.7.14.8
Max 6M: 14.3

The Max 6spd has a good bit more torque, and only 5 less horsepower, but the J32A2 has a wider powerband. I'd give the VQ engine the edge in the powertrain department, but the big thing is that the Maxima still does weigh 250 lb less than the 6spd CL-S and that's really gonna hurt.

I project the 6spd CL-S to get about 14.5's stock.

But yeah, like others have said, 14.3 vs. 14.5 is so close that it would depend on the driver an awful lot but it should be pretty ineteresting on the streets.

I've seen the header dynos on the J32A2 engine though and it's incredible. Add I/H/E and some sticky tires and I bet 6spd CL-S's will be hitting 14-flat in no time at all!!!

Peace

I got a 14.230 in my bone stock Max 6spd earlier this month. That is the absolute fastest stock 6spd time I know of. I can verify this with a timeslip and several witnesses if need be. Actually there was a CL-S auto guy there (red car, big African-American guy) along with some Integra guys that may frequent this board.

Mods for the 3.5 are few and far between now for us. There is a home made intake that makes 10whp, but not much else in the performance department. Time will change that and there is a RUMOR of headers that will make as big of a difference as you lucky bastards get .

Now I love the CL-S and would have gotten a new 6spd, but the dealers around my home are jerks, the wait was too long, and the Max was had for $200.00 over invoice as opposed to $200.00 over sticker for the CL-S 6spd.

CliMax, are you the guy on the org that runs at MMP? I'm Maximus1000 from the org. We need to meet up sometime down there soon!!!!!!!!

I thought I read somewhere that Maxima's stock headers for the 3.5 liter are very efficient and is the reason why there are no aftermarket headers available.

The CLS guys really should start using the manual 1->2->d3 method.
You will lose a tenth or two.

most are too slow to adjust for the delay so as not to hit the rev limiter...
