235/45/17 Yokos on stock 17's (PICS)

I finally got around to getting my new Yokohama es100s mounted. So far I'm pleased with the results(for the money) and think they look great. I'm posting this because there aren't many pics of 235s on stockers floating around. I'm glad I went with these instead of 225s.

Sorry but I think that looks retarded. It looks like the tires are just trying to pop off of the rim.

J.T. Thanks for posting your pics. I have been looking for some pics of stocks with 235's mounted on them (b/c that is what I have, and I'm deciding on tire size), and couldn't find any.

Thanks again for posting and your car looks great!

Looks good, I got those tires last summer, but didn't know i could go wider, so i got the 215's, but they do grip awesome, and work great in the rain as well.

The diameter and revolutions per mile are nearly identical to the 215/50/17, no need to calibrate speedo-

I have 235/45/17 tires on my stock rims and think they are great!!

it's the sidewall that makes it look that way. But with a 97 load rating :whocares:

J.T.'s 3.2CL,
Thanks for posting those pictures!! Your ride looks sweet!

That is the look that I want for my SMR CLS-6. I have Toyo Proxes 4 - 235/45/17's on order and now I have an approximate idea as to how they will look on my stock rims. My drop is by Comptech, and it appears yours maybe a little lower, so I should have no rubbing issues.

Car looks great!

Hey Phatpat, do you have any pics with the Supra 712's from when you had them? I am ordering the 712's this week and am torn between a 225 and 235. Some pics would be helpful. And were they mounted on stock 17's? Thanks.

Jt the car looks great but I have to tell you the tread on those tires look like they're wider than 7 inch. The main reason I avoided the es100 is because of their particularly wide tread and I was afraid of rubbing issues. I dont think you have rubbing issue problems nor do I think you might have any problems but IMO that tire would look great on a 8" wide wheel. Some wheels are more narrower than other and typically an allseason is more narrow than a summer. I have seen a 235/45 ZR17 Michelin Pilot Sport Allseason and I think it is very narrow for its size almost like a 225. I think if I were to stay with the stock wheels a more narrow 235/45 would fit better.

the car looks great and the drop looks sick just the tires are very wide for their size...I would say close to a 245

here are some comparison pics for you

here is a 235/45 Toyo FZ4 all-season and it looks very wide for and all season tire the wheel is 7.5 inch wide

here is a Michelin Alllseason in 235/45 on the same wheel

Ant7701: Thanks for the compliment. The ride is good even with the Tein's set very stiff. They are only slightly louder than stock.

darrinb: They grip MUCH better than the stock Michelins. They aren't as good as the S-03s I had on my TL but I didn't expect them to be. I don't need anything nearly that good because after my horrible accident I won't be pushing the car to the limits anymore. Overall I rate the grip about a 7 out of 10. The S-03s were a 10. The grill came from that guy that was selling them here a few months back.(STsomething)

Dem1K: Thanks, Several members on the forum are running this size with zero problems.

riceburner503: Thanks man.

mrkite: They fit just fine. VERY unlikely they will come off.

spdy0001: I guess your the only one that don't like them. I'll make sure your the first one I inform when they pop off. Honestly they don't look as fat and bulky in person. IMO they look much better than the wimpy non agressive stockers.

bsprinker: Glad I could help and thanks for the compliment. Go with the 235s you won't regret it.

Rock2534: How many miles do you have on them so far?

1killercls: This is the closest size when comparing rolling diameter so that won't be needed.

CBR1100XX: Thanks.

Zapata: Werd man. They don't look as bulky in person.

vinarnold: Thanks Yo.

phatpat: Thanks...How much better are the Toyos than the Kuhmos?

Rock2534: Traction around corners feels much better but I haven't really did any clutch dump starts yet. I'll try to make it to the track soon to see If I can get a 60ft. better than 2.21 which was on stockers.....We'll see.

zeta: SMR CL-S6 My drop is alot lower than Comptech so you will be alright. Post some pics of your ride.

lou: Thanks. I haven't rubbed with this setup so I think it will be fine. They look a little bigger/wider in the pictures than in person. From the rear it does't look much wider than stock.

they are a better tire but not the best bang for the buck..they lasted about 20k..the kumhos perform nearly the same for almost half the price..i'd say they would last around 12-15k..if i had to do it again i'd go with the kumhos anyday

I only got them last summer, so used them about 6 months, i would say a 3000 miles. They feel very solid taking turns, especially the off-ramps, and they almost never squeal. You will still light them up if you go WOT off the line, but if you give it about a quarter throttle for about 2 seconds, then jump on it, you can take off quite nicely. You should have even better results with that wider foot print. I have the 215's.
