According to the FAQ, people have tried and failed.

It can be done. I saw it. I was talking to the person who had 20s on their cl-types. he tole me that he got a suspension job done to his car. He had got the car raise up. And the 20s inch rims has tp be an +42 offsets so the rim would not rub the wheelwell. Deep dish wheels are not reccomdmended becsuse they have and are low offset. And he told me to get a 245/35/20 tires on the rim. I had call an performance shop and they said it can be done only if you raise the car.

OK.

But why? Seems like too much effort and almost no tire on the wheel. Way harsh ride. Only 3.4 inches of sidewall.

it can be done with the right offset. And a 245/35/20 would ride no worse than a 225/40/18...they have nearly the same sidewall.

thank you 4pumpedcl, how it's to much effort. I guess when you drop you car and change the springs, then have to get a agliment job. I guess that not much effot. almost 75% of cls owners who have rims have drop their car. I going to do something different and get 20s. I'm from philly, 20s on cls is the shit. my man had 21inch rim on his 2002 BMW 745i. Lowenhart LD1 spinners.

4pumpedcl, what offset you recommend. A +42?

Aren't we driving a sports car? so why put 20's on it? i can imagine putting 19" Racing Hart or Volk Racing wheels on a car only because they weigh half of what a normal wheel weighs and it gets rid of the gap between the tire and tire well when it's lowered.

But the key here is you have to RAISE your car to make 20's fit? it's easier to just lower your car and put 19's on your car and your only sacrificing an inch; instead, your adding wheels that weight 30 lbs or more which effects the engine performance because it's harder for the engine to turn a 30 lb wheel than a wheel that weighs half that!

I say go for the 20s if you can find some with the right specs. +42 sounds a bit low for the offset, but I'm not sure. I don't think you'll have to raise the car either.

And we're not driving a sports car, just a quick car. Corvettes and 350Zs are sports cars.

Well what if we add the supercharger? we can do some serious damage to a 350Z's ego, then would we be a sports car?!?!

well we could always be a sports car in sheeps clothing if you know what i mean. :P

Rod, what offset should I go with to get 20s. Cls are not sports cars. I you have to buy universal parts to upgrade performance of your car. That means that your are pushing stress on your car. Civis and integras are racing cars. they have primary perfo4rmance parts for them.

Are you fucking kidding me? Maybe if you get an integra motor in an old civic hatchback otherwise what are you talking about. Civics are considered sports cars only by insurance companies and little kids. Our cars have alot more sport then they do.

I take back part of what I said earlier, our cars may not be an all out sports car like i said earlier,

but it IS a sport/luxury car in it's own right. I mean our car's are pitted against the Infiniti G35 Coupe, and that's a pretty powerful car too!

i've seen couple of TLs with 20s and they dont look good at all cos it added height to the car. But if ur gonna do it for whatever reason (i'm guessing "blingbling" ) then u'd better put more thought and effort on the suspension (springs, shocks and such) otherwise it'll end looking like a cheap SUV

I'd go with nothing less than a +48 offset on a 8.5" rim, and that's pushing it.. It all depends on the width of the rim.

i'd say if u wanna get 20s .. try to get 20x8 with 50+ offset with 245 35 20 or 245 30 20 ( ifu canfind any)

i dont see anything wrong with putting 20s on CLs.... i dont think anybody bought CLS cuz it s FAST.. because IT IS NOT FAST.. even tho u get a SC and smoke a STOCK 350Z, what if the 350Z get a turbo or SC? then what u gonna do? NOS? and THEN WHAT?

i say put some 20s and get some airbags, airride or whateveru call that thing.... put some 15" subs and pimp that shit

i have a tire/rim calculator
i'm thinking you haven't changed your speedometer.(probably not)
your best tire if your going from a stock size of 215/50/17
to if your bolting on 20's 235/30/20
but on tirerack.com i couldn't find this size
you'd lose about 1.5 inch of sizewall
