2003 CLS6 Accelerating
2003 CLS6 Accelerating
Hello, new member! I hope this is the right place to have this conversation. I have a 2003 CLS6. I recently noticed that after snowing several inches here in VA I thought maybe this noise was snow under my car. Today I washed it and hit the highway for a blow dry. I noticed on the highway around 4-6 gear that car doesn't want to accelerate past 4500 rpm (in the ball park). It's almost like I'm hitting some kind of limiter. Like my VTEC isn't engaging. Car drives fine elsewhere. I am noticing a "wind suction" noise coming form front passenger side ( I thought was snow under car). Almost like my car is trying to suck in air but coming from opposite side of my air filter. Just passed inspection last week with no issues. Any help I would appreciate. Thanks!

If the car was functioning above 4500rpm BEFORE you took it in for the Acura state inspection, perhaps the overspeed condition was the result of an overzealous technician test drive?

That is, if you can't recall an 'unintentional' overspeed rev of your own doing or a severe overrev as the result of a mistaken 'downshift', then you may have bent valves?

Bent valves happened to me, back in the day, when the faulty original factory installed timing belt tensioner caused a 'floating valve' situation, at highway speed.
Get it diagnosed / remedied ASAP.
If you go back to the same Acura dealer, be PREPARED to fight the good fight in proving your case that they are responsible, just saying.
Good Luck!

Hopefully, it is only a defective CKP or CMP sensor, as mentioned on the first link provided.
This would be the least expensive outcome; however, dtc's usually are present / thrown if they fail.

Dropped the car off at the deanship this morning.. expecting some bad news. Not terrible but it seems my clutch, flywheel and master cylinder are all starting to die out. Has anyone had this issue before?
