2003 CLS 6-speed

It looks like we are getting it and I love my current CLS ... but it is history when the 6-speed comes in. I think I am gonna be #1 on the list for the Acura near me. The big questions are:

1) Get another Silver one?? (might need to see Aegean blue in person)
2) What else do we think Acura is gonna do to distinguish the 6-speed? (ok - hand e-brake does not count) Think they will add a body kit? Tweak the exterior some for 2003?

I am stoked about this .... let the countdown begin !!

I'm not sure why there would need to be a handbrake. If you look at where the brake is now it is not even close to being in the way of where the clutch would be.

I think the folks that drove the "test prototype" in Calif said there was a handbrake. And I don't know about you, but if I go to stomp the clutch and my foot is wet and slips and hits the e-brake ..... oh my .... bad times

What do you guys think about other changes for 2003? I think they should offer a "sport package" and include some body kit action, but not sure if that is the Acura way of things ... I somehow doubt it ... would have to call it the "Type X" or something

the foot brake, when disengaged, is pretty damn high, so i doubt you'd "slip" and stop on the brake by accident.

mb's cars all have foot brakes (except the slk).

even the new c240 coupe has a foot brake w/ a manual and no one complains about it.

TypeR .... it is not fair to make me drool so bad over the thought.

I just hope they put good tires on it cause the base tires squeel like pigs just with the auto ! Perhaps wider wheels are in store?

Come on Acura - reward those who are loyal

Confirmed - #1 on the list at Leith Acura in Cary, NC for the 6-speed !!! They are saying March/April delivery as well.

Who else is going to sign up for one?

Letting the clutch out to put in the foot brake doesn't make a lot
of sense. I bet 25% of owners would leave it in gear, disengage
the clutch, jerk and stall. Hand brake all the way.

Don't think your going to have to be on any list for this one....the 6spd is neat, but its still a standard CL-S.....I'm sure you will have your choice of colors when this car drops.

I have never seen a stick without hand brake... I thought that was a need. I drive a stick now... when I'm in SF or Berkeley on crazy slopes... especially in the rain I HAVE to use that hand brake from stop and go on those steep slopes.

Are you serious? At a minimum it will be lighter and have substantially more HP to wheels ... oh well ... certainly to each his/her own.

Ok, but its still a CL....you think its going to be the next M3 (demand wise)? I don't think so.

No - to be the next M3 they would have to make it cost $15K more and spend that money to make it high quality like the M3. I mean seriously ... we are still talking about a $30K car here so it is within a given set of assumptions.

Also - I don't expect Acura to make many so that will make it "special"

Am I alone in my excitement?

the old dodge daytona had a foot brake w/ a manual.

the new mb c-coupe (and i think the sedan too) in manaul als ohas a foot brake.

i'm sure a couple other cars have it too, but that's just to mention 2 (3).

It really would be nice if they gave us a little more sport with the 6 speed. I would be seriously psyched if they came out with either the same wheels or new wheels in a 7.5" rim.

3.5L eh. Wow, that would be sweet. Either way, bye bye Maxima!!

Personally, I wouldn't spend the money to exchange my auto for a stick, but would be glad if Acura does come out w/ the six-speed. Not that our car would ever get confused w/ a true sports car, but I think a six-speed will lend it some credibility, and hopefully, marketability (for those of us concerned w/ the resale value). Plus, I'm sure magazines will do a whole new round of reviews/comparisons on our car when the 6-speed comes out--publicity is a good thing at this point.

Good points. Hopefully the excitement from this car will give our values a boost.

I also agree that I won't be trading my car in anytime soon, but I would like the bodykit.

Well - worst case I hope the value of my current car is pushed up ... but I have to tell you ... I will soon forget sportshift when I am slamming through the 6-speed manual - I miss that !!
