Sounds like a winner....there will always be a market for the Infiniti- the I30 is a big success for them, and the new look of the I35 should only increase enthusiasm for the car, there are alot of people who will simply spend the extra $4k-$6k for the nameplate and different styling (plus a few added features).... Infiniti service is great as well.

If I bought a 20th Anniv, I would be pissed.

Anway, its nice to see how aggressive these car companies are getting offering serious hardware for not so much $$$- its a very good thing.

ID the new 2002 maxima has 260 hp, that car may be fast4er than ours cause i know that the 225 hp maxima is very fast and can almost keep up with us, the cl-s. i hope either acura does some major upgrades to the cl-s and tl-s in 2 years so as we can kick the maximas asss again and again, or i will be buyin nissan again

you know thats the same kinda reponse thaT CLPOWER(no offense) gave toward the new accord topic...Here's what i think the deals is.You all know in japan there is no infinity,no lexus,no acura, why would nissan care it all say nissan on the check...buy a max ,buy a I30 they get paid either way...but thats been the trend all along accord will just serve to rais the bar for the cl/tl max will do the same for the I30...and yes people who bought last years cl might get there feelings hurt when the new accord comes out but when the cl goes 3.5/300HP they'll feel all warm and comfy, until it's starts all over!!!

I agree with Type R. In a free market economy, competition will always drive business to compete agressively, sometimes at the cost of the customer. I bought the CLS because of it's reliability, quality, value, looks, as well as power. But to think that I was going to be the baddest ass out on the road then i would only be kidding myself. I bought it because I liked it. What everyone else thinks is secondary. I enjoy the common bond with other CLS owners that we have here on our forum and I think that makes it a special car indeed. The 2001 marked a turning point for the CL that will rank it with the Legend as an overall great car.
To paraphrase the Great Poobah...I mean, the Grand Poobah...I mean, the Grand Boombah...the guy with massive sound system!!!...she isn't the prettiest girl at the prom, but she still turns heads...or something like that.

Sounds sweet... it finally gets an engine cover!

As for the CL/Maxima... you cant compare them... the Maxima is in a lower class even with these upgrades.

Just sit in a current one... it doesnt feel luxurious at all... it has a cheap fit & finish and cheap materials.

If I was choosing between a '02 Max or my CL... it would be my CL all over again. No question. Even if I was choosing between a Max and a TL id go for the TL.

Not that the Maxima is a bad car... i really like it.... but its just not a luxury car at all. Its a sporty family sedan.

Maybe it is too obvious, but a huge factor in this decision is that the CL-S is a two door coupe and the Maxima is a four door sedan. How much room do you need?

I owned a 2000 Maxima se five speed and it was a good car and very well built. I can tell you that the manual transmission was the source of many complaints (see edmunds.com town hall). There seemed to be some kind of a ecu/fuel shutoff problem that would cause the car to jerk at low rpms while in gear. Maybe this will be fixed, but check it out.

I would take the CL-S, but possibly wait for a manual transmission version if I had to do it again.

If gun shotta's information are true, then the 2002 Maxima would be the direct competitor with TL Type S, would it? I mean look at their features so close to each other. It seems to me that Nissan is aiming Acura this time. Since TL is the best seller in this class, so Nissan tries to share. And would the new Maxima be the duplicate of the new I35?

I hope they make the car more bulletproof than the 1992 and 1993 models. My friend with the 190HP and 5-speed manual is going to be looking for someone to replace his manual transmission.

The car was not abused, and it seems that the car (as did my 92 SE) worked flawlessly during the warranty period. It just seems that Maxima "designed" his car to completely disintegrate at year eight

I may be way out of fashion here expecting cars to last a while, but his entire car, is breaking down. I would list the parts that are broken or are breaking, but I would need a few pages.

I really like the cars -- I hope they pay more attention to the Maxima, than in the past. My wife's 1995 Altima seems to be running without problems (at least when the dealer isn't trying to break something).

BTW -- My sister who owned every Maxima from the 1987 year to the 1997 year got rid of hers due to reliability problems. She finally switched to an Audi A4, and has never had a single problem.

I read some of the posts over at Maxima.org.....they don't have such great things to say about Nissan quality as of late- interesting.

My brother has an A6 2.7T and a new Altima- likes the Audi's performance, likes the Altima's price.
