Nashua:

Congratulations on your 14.6 - blazzing fast and you beat my 14.7. There were only about 20 of us doing runs from 9 - 10:30 am.

I was there until 10:30 am and did not see any other CL-S's there. What time did you get there?
Wish I could of run against you.

I saw your note on my thread.
How did you like your tires?
Any rubber in 2nd gear?
All this time I thought my Xephyr CAI would come out ahead of your Ingen.

Without the hints from that guy I would have not known how to line up, what the lights were for, etc....

I had little less than 1/4 tank of gas and empty trunk but left the spare in the car. I weigh 175 lbs.

Congrats again...
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahoo,

First, Congratulations on your FAST runs...

The thing that I hated most is I kept losing traction (Wheel hop in the last 2 runs, breaking lose on 1-2 shift on all runs. Damn.. I lowered to 28 lb in FR tires so I can do moderate Break torque. I think with slicks 14.2s is possible. Also, With Headers and RES we should be running in 13s and beating those V8 Camaros... I also beated couple Convertible Mustangs.

The last 4 run I was beating a Chevy Extreeme truck We were the only 2 left on the strip... so we had to run against each other.. The guy was pissed when I start leaving him behind at the top of the first....

I also saw an Integra type-R he claimed running 14.4s. He said: Uhh your CL-S is a fast sedan...."... CLS is a coupe...

I hit the Rev Limiter many times... :P

I had only 3 Galons of Premiun 93 over the Red Light. Acutally I hit the Empty Light in the last 3-4 runs....

I love my Nitto Tires...

I also noticed the same thing you mentioned in 3rd the CLS loses its stream and hence the need of Headers would open it up nicely... Please give me some headers.... :'(

Finally, as one noted running the CLS back to back is best.....

I posted this in your thread:

I am sorry.. I could not be there at 10:00 AM... I was at the drag strip at 1:00 PM.

I met a guy who met you. He was running a black camaro! He said he met you and gave you some hints... He added that you were happy guy in a red CL-S... running for the first time.

Great times....

I managed my best times ever... myself and wife were very excited with the results...

Imagine no SC just Bolt-ons (CAI, Headers, Pulleys, RES and MM-II, light weight rims and sticky tires) and you are beating V-8 Camaros running in mi 13sec at 105 MPH!

Just a FYI, your car will only run that good in that type of weather. Even still I do agree those are great numbers. I ran the same time with just intake when it was around 45 - 50 degrees outside. But when it gets hot you can count on that going up at least 2 tenths of a second. Best time I ran with intake, spark plugs and headers was 14.3 but that was in 80 degree weather. I really should take it out when its cold and see how good it will do. With me living in houston its best knowing what it will run at 80 because of how hot the weather is here year round.

The only V8 Camaro you MIGHT have a chance at tying or edging out is the older LT-1 that came from the factory with 285hp/300torque ('93-'97). And that's only if they're bone stock and you have every mod for the CL-S, including invisible make-believe ones like the RES and MM2.

don't hate, or is it jealousy? you can't compare a cls to a camaro.. the cls is a luxury performance coupe/ the camaro is a perfomance coupe.. go sit in and drive a cls and then drive your camaro there is no comparison.. ok the camaro has higher factory horsepower but thats it.. this is coming from someone that owns both so don't say i haven't driven a camaro or anything like that.

just goes to show the variance in times based SOLELY on the temperature

Zapata gets ~14.7 with intake ONLY in 30 degree weather...headers, exhaust, and plugs later in mid 60's, breaking 15's is nearly impossible...not what u wanna see after spending that kind of money!!!

Way to dredge up an ancient thread.

Okay homo, first of all no one's "hating" or jealous. Maybe when you've been around here more than five minutes you'll get used to how we all interact here. Also, I drive both cars as well. The camaro has around 2.5 metric assloads more torque so no it's not JUST horsepower that it has more of. There IS no comparison - the Z28/SS will blow away a CLS every time.

Yes! it does... and Nitto tires make that worse... u lose traction... then grab... resulting in a hop...to minimize that.. drop the front PSI and raise the back PSI to the max legal...

Yes.. I was consitent at 14.7s due to lack of traction ... the nittos are at the end of their life .... Next April we will know...

How about drag racing on Winter Tires

I should update my posted linked in the sig to include the new 2002 timeslips.. like 2 dozens
