2002 CL Type S
Hey...
I am going to buy a CL Type S in April, but I wanted to wait out for the '02 model...
I couldn't find any info on the new model...
Does anyone know about it? What's new in the '02 model?

if and anything i would expect minor changes
1. a new hey F.O.B: more like a TLS
2. auto UP and down window switched: as of now the current CLs offer only auto-down
3. possible side-view mirrow changes
4. i was hoping that the new RSX-sub in the trunk would be available as an option but it seems like ACURA doesn't have a clue and don't want to deal with as of now
else wise it's gonna be the same car just produced in the calender year
the 6spd. and other options that people are raving about are still to be solidified and as for myself looking foward to a 6spd somewhere down the line
funny though
i have a friend that goes to Pasedena Art Center designing cars and it seems like a lot of their professors get the inside scoop
they didn't know the Honda S2K was commin out till the day it landed at the autoshow
so hope for the best expect the worst

Do a search and you should get some good results. Also, if you'd like to read the latest on the 6-speed thing, do a search on that too. The latest report (from dealers...no sales code) is that it's not happening for '02....

Yeah, but like someone said last time this came up... Motortrend also reported that the new M3 was going to have the M5's V8... don't believe everything you read. If the dealers only have a sales code for an automatic and not a manual... I tend to think that's more believable. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a manual offered, but it just doesn't look good... not for 2002 anyway....

The 2002 will have a 3.5 liter engine, a true sequential six speed, all-wheel drive, an improved exhaust manifold, an optional supercharger, an optional body kit and lip spoiler, real foglights, auto up/down for both windows, 18X7.5" alloy wheels, a sportier/stiffer suspension, stainless steel exhaust tips, a rear-deck mounted subwoofer, a similar head unit that will play MP3s off of CDs, a telescoping steering wheel, and it will be built in Japan.
At this point no one really knows what the changes are going to be.

Then Nissan would send a GTR over here for 35K too.
Or Toyota would produce their Exotic and price it at 70K...right next to the NSX...

Even though some dealers may know things he doesn't, we can't really count on anything as of now.

JB-
Do dealers you have talked to not have any sales codes for 2002 CL's? Just curious if they could put in an order for a 2002 at all regardless of tranny type?
I would assume that if a dealer tells you they can't order a 2002, that Acura has released any sales codes for the new model year. Likewise, if they tell you that it is not currently possible to put in a order for 2001, that Acura is closing out the model year and in the process of preparing for the 2002 model year.
Also, didn't someone a few months back mention that they new of dealer who claimed to be getting a 6-speed CL to "play with" in July? My guess is that that dealer could have been refering to the RSX.
I am holding out hope for a 6-speed because I have decided that I want a CL-S (blue or silver) for my next car. I am not really interested in the 6-speed from a performance standpoint, because I just enjoy owing a manual. It's more fun to drive to me.
I want a car that is sporty, fun to drive, that offers a "sedanesque" ride, and that still has backseats that can accomodate my friends.
If I really wanted a true sports car, I'd get myself a 97 Supra or a 96 300ZX. However, such a car just isn't practical at this stage in my life.
If the 6-speed isn't available, I may still get a CL-S, but it will take a few more test drives for me to come to terms with not having the manual.
