2002 Acura CLS vs 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 Six speed

What's up guys and females. When I bought my 2002 Acura CLS, I was actually going to order a 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 six speed, when I saw an Acura CLS in the lot for sale. As you can see I ended up with the Acura. Do you think I made the right choice. Would you have bought the Acura over the new Honda. The Acura has been nice so far, except for a few minor problems, but I am afraid of the tranny issues that I keep hearing of. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Scott

I think it matters what you yourself think!! NO one can or should tell you things to make you feel good about your purchase!! Do a search on the 2003 accord v6, there is plenty of info about it.
I own a 2003 accord ex coupe(v6), and I love it!! my family also leases an 03 TLp, and I like that car too! You can't beat acura when it comes to interiors, unless you switch to upscale benzo's!

Dude, the tranny issues aren't affecting 100% of the owners out there. No big deal.

That new accord is made CHEAP as fuck!

Look around the rear glass. There's no plastic or metal. It's like the glass is just sitting in that spot.

Our interior is WAY better.

Our cars aren't all over the place like this new accord will be soon.

You made the right choice. Enjoy your purchase, and remember what I said about the new accords.

ok, in response to "cheap as F.UCK"

I really don't want to turn this flame bait of a thread into an accord vs cls flame war, simply because if you think of it......THEY ARE BOTH ACCORDS!! MADE IN THE SAME FACTORY!!

but here are some things the "cheap as F.uCk" accord has that the CLS doesn't:
- throttle by wire
- electronic break force distribution
- voice activated, touch screen, dvd based navigation system, with 180 voice commands!
- the remote key entry system is integrated into the key itself, ala bmw
- both driver and passenger windows roll down when you press open for more that 2 secs on the remote system . they roll up if you put the key in the door, and hold it to the right! my tlp doesn't have the above mentioned! how's that for "CHEAP"?

The Accord is a good car, but man I wish Honda had a better sense of style. I wouldn't drive it because it looks terrible to me but obviously some people like it because I am starting to see it around.

The new Accord coupe is alot nicer than the 4 dr version......thats for sure, but I have to say one thing. Yes your Accord might have some nice toys to play with, but dont forget! Acura is the top of Honda's food chain lets not forget that!.....

4 more things for CLers to drool about:

2003 accord v6 coupe Coefficient of drag= 0.29

2003 cl type s coefficient of drag= 0.33

2003 BMW 330CI coefficient of drag = 0.35

- the accord also has a more useable 4th and 5th gear, the cls *ahem* "dies" in 4th

- dual zone automatic climate control(so the wife, or "the B.itch", can stop medling, with your settings)

- 2003 accord coupe ex v6 6 speed= 14.5second @ 98.9mph, by mototrend(ON REGULAR 87 OCTANE GASS)!!!!! I wonder what would have happened had they used premium?

Thanks. Acura should've done this a while back for their remotes. I like having to carry less around, now the smart keys coming out would be even nicer.

Hehe, yep. We recently aquired an 03 EX; I can assure you the build quality is the same as my CL-S, maybe even slightly better. (Have yet to find a defect on the Accord, where my CL had 4~5.) My only gripe, besides the odd styling, is the floor mats are thin and cheezy. Honda does offer "premium" mats as an option.

I really can't wait to see the next gen TL (and hopefully CL) go above and beyond the Accord. Oh, add LED lighting and side curtain airbags to Torqueaholic's list.

Its nice to see that Accords no longer have the "mouse fuzz" roof lining on the inside. Something very few other cars can claim in that price range. Audi S4 being the only other car I've ridden in that can claim that one. (Mouse fuzz interior lining is something even the 330 is guilty of.)

Cup holders ala BMW 330 style. My 6th Gen Accord cup holders suck azz if you enjoy using the gas peddle, brake peddle, or steering wheel. The 7th Gen accord has four spring loaded support arms for holding your can or cup firmly in place, even during spirited driving.

How about an adjustable arm rest? The 7th Gen Accords arm rest slides forward or backwards to suit whatever position is most comfortable for you. The 330 doesn't even have anything similiar to that.

The 7th Gen Accord has a seperate 12v adapter for your cell phone. Currently I have to choose b/w speeding ticket (aka no radar detector) or dead cell phone battery. With the 7th Gen Accord you can use both!

No more cheesy plastic on the A Pillar. The 7th Gen Accords A pillars use the same material as the roof lining, instead of the nasy hard plastic in the 6th Gens.

Steering wheel controls? The 7th Gen Accord has steering wheel controls that rival those in the 330.

I only spent about 10 minutes in the car for a test drive and there were so many improvements I noticed about the 7th Gen Accord its amazing. I could write a damn 5 page report on all the improvements over the 6th Gen Accord if I spent as little as 30 minutes checking the car out.

Under the hood, I noticed Honda switched to a serpentine belt for the accesories. You no longer have to disconnect the passenger side engine mount to replace the belts for the P/S or alternator. (At least I _think_ you have to do that for the 6th Gen Accords)

In the looks dept I'd gladly trade for a Mazda 6 exterior any day of the week, but once you are in the car, its simply amazing what your eyes behold.

It comes down to this fact...the CL-S is faster, has more useable torque, is more luxurious...and just plain looks better.

The car was designed for regular unleaded. So that is a moot point. The CL Type-S is faster. 15.0 1/4 v. 15.4 1/4.

As someone with both a CL-S and a 2003 EX-L NAVI I4,5 S5. Manual, 4 dr. sdn--

The Accord also has a tilt/telescope wheel, and the best seats that I have ever had in a Honda/Acura product.

Also, I understand that the 2003 160 hp I4 is faster than last years 3.0 V6/4 Sp. Auto. (In this cold weather,my break-in miles are coming slowly, but this engine/trannie rocks). This car drives very much like my '93 Prelude SI 5 Sp., except that the first 4 gears feel like the Lude, with 5th as an overdrive. I'm very happy with this drive train, so much so that the CL-S will go to my bride.

I find that I very much enjoy driving a slow (0-60 in +/- 7.5 sec.) car at 8/10ths more than a faster car at 7/10ths.- But that's just me.

I look forward to the inclusion of all of these upgrades on the next TL/CL generation.
