2001 CL Grills- Where to buy??

Although my CL is mostly stock, I love some of the grill treatments I see in the photos; Grill Tech doesn't list a CL version on the web. Are all these grills custom made or can I buy them somewhere and DIY??

A lot of people have used gutter guard from home depot to make their own. There is also some mesh stuff you can buy from pep boys or auto zone that you can use to make your own too.

but rondog definitely makes the highest quality stuff out there for us right now.

www.ronjonwheels.com , then click on "body kits"

Seen the RonJon grille on mclarenf3387 CL. It looks real nice. Definately worth it. What color is your CL?

How does the RonJon one fit? Does it have rough edges? Would I have to trim it to fit? I had to do this with the "other" grills that were sold before. Would there be any problems fitting the grill shell back on? Also like the "other" grills that were sold.

Fits perfect. I bought the whole grille shell included, that way I can sell this if I ever part out the car, but all you have to do is remove the 7 little nuts holding the grille on, put in the ronjon grille, tighten the nuts to about hand tight and your done. No trimming or anything.

My CL is Black- still working on the paint problems, but learning to do immaculate touch-ups. Fixed 200 scratches and chips so far, not including the total re-paint of hood and trunk acid-rain damage. Roof scheduled for complete re-paint next week. Only 750 more rock chips left to work on. Car looks real, real good 10 feet away though.
New ProAct pads work GREAT!, floor mat now repaired, added mud guards, changed oil, new air filter, and new Michelins. Installed dash lighter and ashtray. Roof deflector somewhere in UPS system. And it's still STOCK!! I'm tired, and the wife thinks I may have a new girlfriend in the garage.

My CL is 2001 BLUE. I "want" the RonJon grill - there simply is no other choice - for "me" BUT here comes the stress - - - The silver finish maybe too loud, too bling-bling BUT the black maybe too low profile, almost going un-noticed to all but a CL trained eye!!! One day I am convinced silver it is - the next moment the black just plain rocks
DOH!
Any input from the unwashed (its been VERY COLD & SNOWY) masses?

If you have black headlight housings, the black would match, and the flat color would be able to showcase the preforated holes better to the untrained eye. very clean and matches the rest of the car. if you have the chrome trim, and chrome headlights of the 2001, then you can go with the OEM blue colored trim, with a silver mesh, the chrome headlights will offset the silver finished mesh and not make it so bright. I've had both combos, and thats the best setup, chrome headlights with a matte finsih brushed aluminum silver mesh.

Grill Needs??

If chschn87 really needs this, send to him; I can wait on my grill mod. So far, everyone in the forum has been super!

It's so cold in my garage now, even with the k-heater, I may wait til March before doing much more.

CL Grill Swap

I do love my CL, guys; I had to drive the company car to Spartanburg today and leave my car exposed in the parking lot at work overnite. Hopefully, no one will bother it. The Impala feels like a bus!!

I have a condition to attach to this grill thing- I want to see pictures when done. I am toying with a full price RJ grill, but the price will keep me back til spring. Also I am looking for some punched hole aluminum sheet I can paint black- round holes if anyone knows a source. I found some galvanized steel, but I'a a little leary of the stuff, and how the finish will turn out.

Keep me in the loop as how the grill works out.

Toying with best approach

Man, it is so cold here today! Ice storm forecast for tomorrow.

I would like a RJ grill, but in the meantime I may experiment with a home-made. I want to be able to go back to stock if I trade in a year or two for a CLSMT6.

Randys- send the grill you have to Chschn87; I am still working on silver vs. black vs body color for trim, etc., and I cannot work on this for at least a month due to other commitments.

I would like to find some hole punch aluminum just to fake a grill and do trial and error. Long term, I will probably buy a RJ version.
Chschn87, hope the grill from Randys works great- post pictures. I will get some pictures of my plain CLP01 Black (after the paint restore)
posted soon, and maybe do a computer touch-up with grill options for fun!

CL nuts!

Gutter Guard Grill

Just tried my hand at the mesh grill, and it didn't turn out bad at all, although I still wonder if I should have painted it black (car is black. Will post pictures soon. I only had 6 bolts holding the grill in, but two nasty plastic snaps that gave me grief! Looks a little like the new Ford 500 grill.

Ordered the PIAA 19224 lamps for the front road lights also.

Personally, I think it looks cool. I also have a CL with blackhousing and I'm searching for a black grill for it. I seen some pics of one in www.cardomain.com that had that front set-up, it looks good to me. If you can't find them on the site I'll send them to you, just let me know how.e-mail or something.
