Those elbow macaroni salad tube are individual throttle, weird design but it serves purpose for better air intake flow I think... If they try to stick them up upward it would look like a hot rod..

i can see the design, but y would they have the pipes facing backwards on the sides??? get any residual air left over circulating around??? perhaps if they were facing forward, they'd rob air from the center pipes???

The S62 engine in the M5 and Z8 have throttle valves that are electronically controlled for each cylinder (I can't spell). Probably why

BMW 6s are linear. I have seen the 540 motor without the cover and it does not look like that...

Not all BMW plenums are crazy

I think that the cover that RCA is working on might be directing airflow into individual cylinders and hence scalberts design doesn't show much gain

Nope, the center chambers do not have paths to the intake ports without first going to the end tanks. I feel there are other shaping issues at hand.

Ah, come one, there were gains , the average 0.17 seconds to 60 gain is significant. That is probably about a 12 - 15 WHP gain. But we'll see what happens on the dyno, these initial tests are just for reference not not worth much IMO...

Remember that air is sucked in like pulses. The plenums on the side help pull and keep air moving in through the center where the other plenums and TB's sit. Depending on the firing order you can get quite the sequence of airflow moving around in there. I'm sure BMW has done all the optimization on this motor to get the tremendous HP and Torque levels out of it.
