Actually, it could be more power than 20WHP.

With everything else equal; Baro of 30.0inHg and Humidity at 50%. At 80 F you have a Relative Air Density 95.7% and at 30 F you have a Relative Air Density of 106.1%. That alone could account for about 8% - 10% power change. Add into this the change in timing and fueling and you could potentially have 12% difference in power.

And honestly, the blown motors benefit more.

The problem with me is that when it is cold, people (for whatever reason) drive slower. I have a 25 mile commute so deal with a lot of stop and go...hense the 03' AUTO and not teh 6 speed. So when I finally hammer it...that car seems a bit confused? It just doesn't seem as fast as if I am zipping around before that. When I am zipping all morning the car screws past time itself. I am guessing our computer adapts to the driving style?

I could swear my friend said every 7 degrees the temp drops is a horsepower .. like from 80deg to 20 deg the colder air will help you make about 8 or 9 more hp .. thats what the guy that dyno'd him said .. he could be wrong.

The physical properties of the fuel conditioner make a huge difference especially in this weather,.....

My 1986 Grand national was calculated that it ran nearly .8 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile at 10 degrees.

It had a HUGE interccoler, 2 to 3x the size of what we see on some cars now and it was running at 21 lbs of boost....

The general rule of thumb is about 1.5% change in HP per 10 degree temperature change for an NA vehicle. 2% change in power per 10 degrees temp change for a forced induction vehicle.

Maybe he confused HP and actually meant % change in HP. You cannot say strictly HP because of the variances in output.

I would think a CL with a CAI would benefit more from the cold temperatures than a CL with stock intake, right?

this will tell you how much more or less power you will get b/c of air temp/qual

I drove my Mustang he other night and the dr's were like ice even on dry pavement until they warmed up. I'd floor it while midway through 3rd and it would start fishtailing.

My Taurus even seemed fast last night driving to work when I had to pass someone. :o

This wek I'm gonna dyno my CL-S I think. Not gonna have a better chance to make good numbers I think.

Not really, it depends on the amount of HP in the beginning too and what you really expect fromt he car.

IMO, my GTP varied a greater amount with temperature. But the all time worst vehicle I have owned that varied power output per climate changes was my Typhoon. That thing probably varied 60 - 70 WHP between summer and winter. During the winter it was scary off of the line; pulling to 60 easily in the low 4's (if not a high 3's). In the middle of summer I doubt it would of broke into the 4's.

I surely does like the cold weather, how about 20F in the morning and dew point in 2-5F...loving that!... how the you can't have a free launch and eat it too!.. with cold weather you need to run Snow tires tires (205/60/16) handling sucks big time. traction will suck a bit more since the tires are too soft to hook up!....

Overall, I prefer spring time at 40F temp and 30.5" AP and dew points in 20F. Ah, by next spring I will be having new Max Performance tires ( Eagle F1 DSG-3) or maybe the new UHP kumho KU19.

Nashua.
