Talking 1st Gen CL vs. 2nd Gen TL, RL...and a frigg'n GTO

I was driving on the 405 SB today and spied a black TL (stock?) travelling @ 80mph. I pulled next to him and looked over. It's on!...

We both gunned it, weaving and twisting all over 5 lanes of the 405. Speed above 100mph. We went all the way from Carson to the 22 off-ramp, until a appears out of nowhere. I led most of the way but it's back and forth so not really sure who won.

In the process, a black 03-06 RL appeared out of nowhere and joined in the fun. He lasted 5 mins....

The funny thing is that a GTO wanted to challenge the TL and my CL. We A'ser cut him off and left him in our exhaust fumes .

This is the most fun i have in one day since i bought my CL. Props to the TL driver...Great driving!!!

Oh and greetings everyone, I'm new to this community.

i hope you have some major work done on your engine to dust a new RL, and the GTO i'm not even going to start on. matter of fact, the only reason i think you won is the fact that you're reckless enough to weave through traffic.

Hey CLpower, I saw you on LS2gto when I was looking at the meets on there with my friend. He's Ragekidd on LS2gto. GTOs are damn nice, just wish I had the money for one.

rl=15 second car,not for speed, its all luxury,as a 3.0 owner and driven in the new/old rl,i would line up anyday with it.now the gto on the other hand even with a 100 shot of the happy juice i would still have my doubts......

Street racing just shows that you want your liscence or life taken. What good what to be to say you even beat a lambo on the street only to have to ride the bus for the rest of your life.

Don't let em rag on ya too hard, im sure we're all guilty of such things from time to time, thats why we buy fast cars. And the gto could have smoked you if he wanted to, but he would have had to stop for gas and you would have kept going so you really would have won!

As a GTO owner (past honda owner) I would probably be cruising in 6th gear --- see you and your buddies hopping lanes on the road and say "Damn, those people are acting crazy..."

I'd then proceed to leave it in 6th and turn up the radio.

There are only two disadvantages to the GTO in my opinion.
1) Gas Mileage- Not too much of a disadvantage because I love that damn V8.
2) Resale Value- It hurts me to see the prices on these things. Why does it have to inherit GM's crappy resale values?

As I said before, my friend has one and I love the car! Not a POS in any sense of the phrase. It's actually built really well, it surprised me.

FYI, gas mileage is the same if not better then I got in my first gen CL

When I looked for a used GTO before going new, the price hadn't dropped much. Except the 04's that are down on power, brakes and some other features. W/ that said, many guys paid low 20's brand new for 04's so they haven't lost their value.

My acura lost value faster then any car i've seen.

there is no way you beat a GTO. My friend has a 01 and he let me drive it one day.Even the worst driver could beat a CL from a roll in a GTO.

so, by not keeping up are you saying you were faster then he was or he either got caught up in traffic or wasn't trying?

At $3.00 a gallon the GTO driver wasn't going to waste his time or gas on you.

That surprises me about the Gas mileage. My buddy gets about 13 mpg. Come to think of it he basically only drives city kind of roads, not too much highway. You drive mostly highway? Is yours an 05 or 06?

I know there are still Brand New 04s and 05s out there for great deals. If I had the money I would definitetly get on in a heartbeat.

Who cares about you flying by someone when you have a headstart. If you flew by me like that, the only reason I would wanna catch up to you would be to give you the middle finger. Come on bro, there is a time and place to push your car.

2006 M6, mixed hwy and city, he is probably an auto.

BTW, you can still build a car for a few more months, production hasn't stopped.

i highly doubt a 1st gen cl can keep up with a new RL..especially up top. perhaps from a dig it might stand a chance for a couple second but after that, no way.
