1999 Toyota Sienna XLE with 58K miles for $16K is it a good buy?

My wife would love to have a Toyota sienna.

We are making an offer on white 1999 Toyota Sienna XLE with 59 Kmiles/Moonroof for $16K, is this a good buy?

We are buying from Used car dealer (Talarico dealership), the minivan is in excellent condition. it comes with 90-days ,3k miles warranty.

Thanks for the feedback.

Damm it the Sales Manger flopped on me.

First I offered $15k, and he said that I can go as low as $16495.
He refused my offer he added he can sell me a $15k minivan but not this XLE, than I called back and uped my offer to $16K, this time he said he has to check his papers... and call me back...He did not, I called, and said, "I am sorry, I was wrong the lowest I can go is $17.495 and not $16,495..."

So the deal fell apart...

Dont worry, thats not really too good of a deal. I heard a commercial just today on 2002 Windstars (i know its not a sienna) but they were going for 16k with less than 10k on them. Sounded like a dealer demo type of thing, but thats still dirt cheap.

Patience

Man, try to get another one. We have a Sienna XLE ('98, we got like the first one when it came out) and it is a nice car. Even I, 16 mind you, don't mind driving it. The engine is smooth as silk. Only thing is that the brakes SUCK! Now, I have never driven another minivan, but let me tell you, you have to start braking like 400 feet before you want to stop. Thing is like a freakin 18 wheeler with hot brakes. Nice and small though, rather easy to meneuver.

Wasn't there some issue with the Sienna's engines? Something about if you didn't change the oil every 3000 miles you cause "sludge" problems whatever that is. I thought I read that somewhere. . Actually I don't think it was just Sienna's it had to do with several of their V6's across the line.

That's true, but Toyota is taking care of the problem very well.

My younger bro just bought for his wife a 2000 XLE w/ 52k in good cond for $16k. So for 99 Xle it should be less than $16k. I myself bought 02' Symphony w/ leather & extended warranty for my wife also. Be patience you'll find better deal.
