14.4 bringing down to 14.1

i ran a 14.422 at 99mph on saturday the 7th. i'm going back in 2 weeks. Now my question is....if i gut my trunk, go there with a quarter tank of gas, and throw either slicks or drag radials or lower my tire pressure...do you think i could pull a 14.1 or lower? and i'm a light person i only weigh about a 155lbs.

dude, since you have the 6spd and don't have to worry about blowing your tranny, set up a 50-75 shot of NOS. I think if you gut the trunk (spare, tools, etc) and run with 1/4 tank of gas, you should easily hit mid 13's using NOS.............

If your CL wears draggers, and your 60 ft time drops to 2s flat.. you can shave 0.6s on 1/4 mile... so that is 13.8s @ 104-108 MPH

This doesn't make sense... I mean... I do understand why you would do the above to improve your time and earn bragging rights as one of the fastest CL's... however, it doesn't reflect your real world times. Wouldn't you want to run the CL-S in the form you run it on the street? ... that way you know what you've got out there? You can't run drag radials on the street... so why do it on a track? I'd lower your tire pressure and go that route. If you were building the CL-S as a drag car.. then I'd understand it.. but this is your daily driver... right?

I don't know.. maybe it's just me. It doesn't make sense doing all this work to get great times only do it once or twice down the strip. I'd rather work my car for the street, and test it at the track... not the other way around.

Either way... great time. What track were you at??

to what junior bean was saying, thats why i ran the 14.4 and left everything in it. i wanted to see what i run every day but NOW i wanna see what my car is really capable of. And for the launch question, i dropped at 17 and hopped, if i drop at 2 i spin and if i drop at 14 i bog so 17 seems to be there. But if i do the slicks....then i'll drop at like 3 or 4 and see where i go from there. With the nitrous statement, i like my warranty and i'm quite fond of them paying for what i break so i'm not doing nitrous, plus this is just my opinion but i feel like nitrous is cheating. and i live on long island and i'll be at the track the 21st weather permitting its exit 61 north of sunrise highway just take the LIE to exit 68 south, hop on sunrise(route 27 east) go to exit 68 north, make a right go to the traffic light make a left and its about 2 miles down on your left hand side. Its a shitty track though i know my friend ran a 13.3 out there and then on a hotter day with the same set-up ran a 12.9 at englishtown. i'll see how it goes and let you guys know. also the time slip will be up soon

BTW, a stock 6-speed CL-S ran a 14.7 at Englishtown this Saturday..... I don't remember the trap speed.....

IMO if you're trapping at 99 then all you have to do is get the launch down better to run a 14.1

i completly believe in 14.4 since he has headers and cai and sparks....car and driver did a 14.6 stock 6 spd...i dont need to prove that as u can find that in car and driver.

14.1 is definately possible if you remove the spare tire, subs & lower your tire pressure. If you have access to drag radials you could bring home a 13.9 timeslip. At 99mph trap speed 13.9 is not unheard of.

i believe my best 60' time was a 2.23. that run ended up being a 14.32 @ 98.68. with a little less gas (fuel light on) and spare removed you should be able to get close to the 14.0 mark. drag radials and light wheels would help you break into 13's.

what was temp and elevation?
