1 close run with a S2000

AS i was leaving work tonight i pulled up next to a new s2000 and as we were coming up to my usual racing spot, i turned off my a/c and put it in D2. As we take the turn i get to the left of him and a little behind him and at about 4k rpms he punches it, and then i do.

We were neck and neck through second and into 3rd, but at the end of 3rd he was barely inching away . I was like hell yeah, and i know he was on it the whole time because his car sounded louder than mine.

As we take the next turn i pull up next to him again in D2 and right when we get to about 4500 rpms or so he punches it and then i do, but this time he is slowly pulling in 2nd, and pulls to about 3-4 cars ahead of me through 3rd up to about 100mph...

So i guess i just got lucky on the first run, i think it was because we were lower in the rpms and they dont have much low end power, or maybe he misshifted or something.......but i think if i get headers it should be a closer race.

I think you may be right on the first race. I have respect for the CLS, but I think that the only reason it was so close was due to lack of drivimh ability on his part. You really have to rev the s2k high to get to the optimum racing potential.

The s2000 is tough from a roll. Especially from 4500. I agree with KC but with some more mods you can take him. I loved running my buddies in the quarter because 9 out of ten times we would be less then .1 apart.

headers...definitely.....but i cant blow 1000 bucks on comptech and i dont want the ressonance from the obx, so im hoping that the stone headers come through, and maybe i could order one in a few months.

Gotta do one mod at a time, just put on my springs today.

Do you notice any decrease in acceleration with the 19's??? Those are the same wheels I might get this summer.

not really.......in reality, say i lose 5hp from putting on my 19, which in diameter with 35 series tires is about the same size as stock with big tires and maybe just a tad heavier, no one would really feel 5hp, gain or loss.....just not that big of a difference.

when i went to the track i got my best times using the gates because of the 1-2 that automatically shifts for you in SS mode, so i got a little used to using them.
