03 CL-S6 vs SL60 AMG

So I was driving home today. I was in the right lane of a three lane road, and that lane was ending, so I had to get over. There was a Benz SL60 AMG in front of me. Deep dish wheels, low slung roof line, it was very nice looking:

He takes off to get in front of the car in the middle lane, and I do the same. He started to pull ahead, I hit second, and started gaining. At 50 Im next to him, at 80 (it was a 55 zone) I put about 3 car lengths on him. He didnt look too happy at all, but I was smiling the whole way home.

I am wondering though if this guy just put the AMG badges and wheels on the car, but I know 100% that is was a V8, so its making at least 300hp. It was also an automatic. Either way though, its a win.

There is no such a thing as SL60 amg, in fact there is a SL600 amg, or SL500 amg. The SL500 its only 302 hp, but 340tq at only 2700rpm, it is a higher 14 sec car.The SL600 its a monster with 390hp and 420tq available after 3500rpm.So basically you can make a conclusion of what kind of benz it was.

The SL60 AMG was also extremely rare. Sold through MB from 1996 to 1998, it used a 6.0 litre V8 engine producing between 381 bhp (284 kW) and 384 bhp (286 kW). AMG claimed a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) speed of 5.8 seconds.
It is entirely possible that it truely wasnt an SL60, as I said in my original post. But the car does exist.

I don't think mercedes ever made a SL60 AMG. There is a SL500 and SL600 and depending on what year Mercedes also made the SL320. Sounds like you raced the SL500 and he put some different badges on the car(which I see ALL THE TIME). I laugh when I see AMG badges on a non-amg benz lol. Great kill none the less! He still got smoked by your CL-S and he paid way to much for his non-AMG benz!

Lol. Thanks. I know I cant believe everything thats posted on Wikipedia, but other sites do confirm that such a car existed.

I still am skeptical about what it truely was though. It definately had a V8 because I heard it.

SL500 and SL600 are not AMGs. They may very well have some AMG parts like a body kit and wheels, but these are not AMGs. True AMGs are lettered with only 2 digits, ie: SL55 SL63 E55 S65, and .......SL60(R129) etc.

Gotta look at the engine. One man, one engine.

Must be a very rare ride. I have never seen one. Was it only made outside of the states?

No problem. I sported a C55 and then a CLK63 for a while.

I think there was even a SL73 made at one time.

The 73(7.3 litres) one either sl73 or s73 I know does exist, but it is from BRABUS, and its extremely rare, original cost was around $300000.If it was in fact sl60amg he wouldn't have a chance of beating him

Everything that I have read online says nothing about the SL73 (or SL70 or SL60 for that matter) being tuned by Brabus. The SL60 was sold through MB. The SL73 and SL70 was sold through AMG directly.

As I said in my very first post, its possible that this guy put the SL60 badges on his car. Either way, it was a V8 Benz, and it was a win in my book.

If it's tuned by Brabus, and it's a SL, and it's a V8, chances are you're not going to win. I'm 99% sure you raced a SL500, good kill.
