'02 CL-S Steering Wheel logo

I own a 2002 Acura 3.2 CL Type S, and have the 'optional' "Woodgrain"-look steering wheel. The center pad (airbag area) on the optional steering wheel (expensive) does NOT have the Acura 'silver/black' LOGO thereon (just the embossed 'shape' on the black air bag pad).

Does anyone know where I can acquire a suitable Acura steering wheel DECAL that would fit on the airbag section of a 3.2 CL-S steering wheel? Nearly every Acura I see has the "A" logo on the center of the steering wheel!

My dealer (parts dept & service dept) insists that Acura corporate does not make such a silver/black (A) emblem/decal available to them, for the steering wheel.

I have a '01 Z06 Corvette, and have bought the 'colored Chevy flags' DECAL to stick on top of the center of the Vette steering wheel, which does not have a colored logo from the factory. Looks nice.

Can you help? I would appreciate it very much.....

Thanks......

Hmmm... I don't know of any decals that would work. People whom have looked into this have found that the airbag cover would have to be replaced.

BTW... Post some pics of the Z06!!!

Thanks, Scrib. Someday I'll learn how to submit a pic on a Forum, without a digital camera (my Xmas present to ME).

yeah, I don't know if that plastic "A" emblem can be acquired to put on the steering wheel. I highly suggest you don't "glue" anything there. Acura may have used a secure way of attaching the "A" emblem to the front so that when the airbags explode it doesn't impail you in the face. Now if you just glued something there...that's another story

chikai.....I was 'hoping' for a simple "paper" decal, like the plentiful Vette ones I have (thin, and would not interfere with an airbag operation, I believe).

I thought all 02's had the emblem.

...something sounds fishy, I wonder if your car is an early build or perhaps that is not the original airbag unit.

He mentioned the optional wheel with the wood. Don't think that one has the "decal" I wanted one for my 01 but got the same thread response. One airbag pop and I'll have the A on my forehead forever.

I'm pretty sure you will have to replace the airbag cover or replace the whole steering wheel.

I thought that all 02's had the emblem on the steering wheel too.

Nope, both '02s and '03s have the cool plastic steering wheel emblem. One of the reasons I got an '03 instead of a used '01

Yeah only the 2003 CL's have the logo. The 2002 TL's however do have the black/silver logo.

Thanks all, for the input....looks like I may have to paint a logo on myself with acrylic colors.....ha!

If I find any aftermarket source, I'll post the info.

My VIN is an "early" '02.....made Nov. 01 (A800112).

_______dbox.....the Z06 is a great machine, and loves to be shifted all day. We drove it to the NCRS National in Galveston, TX 8/01 and to Monterey, CA 8/02 from Toronto......total of both trips 12,000 miles. Lots of fun. Torch red with mod red interior and 'Corvette Mike' exchange Chrome Wheels.

And, we drive the CL-S south in the winter (Myrtle Beach, SC, St. Augustine, FL etc).....also great fun. The Acura's tiptronic 5-speed is fine, since we already have a six-speed in the family.

I assure you, that the 02's DO NOT have the plastic emblum on the wheel as the 03's do...im looking at my 02 brochore and you can clearly see by the pics that its just the one ingraved in the wheel...the 02 tl and rsx has the plastic, not the CL.

02s and 01s do not, 03 is the only car except the 02 and 03 TL have it.

My 02 last batch was made did not have it.
