Power in the '03 6MT.....
Power in the '03 6MT.....
I guess this is sort of related to the thread that Allmotor_2000 started about the momentary power loss if you stomp on the accelerator.
I was driving from dunkin donuts to work. Got some of the DELICIOUS coffee
Anyway, in traffic and i need to change lanes. I was in 1st gear at about 5mph and then I went to accelerate hard and the wheels could barely get traction as the wheels weren't grabing with too much confidence. I have michelin pilot sport a/s 225/50/17. Of course once the wheels hooked up i was moving real fast but geeze it was a good and bad feeling. I have absolultely no powermods. Comptech mentioned that the S/C CLS will go through stock tires without much effort.....i can't believe it. The stock setup makes traction a little difficult You'll need to do some suspension tweaking and get some ULTRA high performance summer tires if you are thinking about the S/C because all-season tires just will not cut the mustard.
My thoughts..... Perhaps that power loss is a design feature to compensate for traction issues, DESPITE the HLSD, inherent FWD design.

Zap i want you to try sometin for me, go out and drive and stop a stop accelerate normalyl to about 4k rpms hold it for a split second....then slam the gas and speed shift into 2nd...now add 40hp to the ground...at 20mph and 4k rpms if i slam the gas then slam it into 2nd i make a nice set of tire marks, stock tires and nitto 555's. I did a triple chirp in 3rd today on the way to work. This car has the greatest potential ever only to be fucked over by FWD. Buttttttttt This is also for everyone if you dont mind wasting a lil bit of tire. Drop it at about 4k in first then get it to spin all of second, then try and spin 3rd and tell me what happens, also if done correctly your rpm's will fly up. We have some sort of safety on it that wont let us spin 3rd gear if we're already spinnin 2nd. I dont get it.
Ive had something odd happen to me, appears to be safety of the engine related. I was at a light ready to race someone, i take off and try not to spin the tires that much, but i get the rpm's too high before letting off of the clutch completely. So im doing about 15mph, rpm's are bouncing off redline, so i press the clutch all the way in and shift to 2nd. The rpm's did not drop during my shift, they stay up bouncing. I finally have to hold the clutch in for maybe 5 seconds and let them drop, then shift. Its happened twice now and i cant explain it. I know how to drive stick too. It happens when you get the rpm's to redline when the cluth is "almost" out. Any input? Besides: "learn to race" "stop racing" and other flames. Its in the car, not me. But rarely happens.
Hmmm
Two things could be happening:
(1) You didn't let go the gas the whole time... so you were pegging the motor before, in-between and after the shift. It is NOT probably that the RPM's were boucing off the limiter AFTER your shift to second...
(2) Your clutch is slipping...
