02 ACURA CL-S vs. 02 NISSAN MAXIMA

WHO WOULD WIN!!!!!!

Both have 260hp but the Maxima has more torque and standard 6 speed!!!!!!!!

It also had a Birdeye Navigation similar to the Infiniti.........

Below is a link to Nissan 2002 models....The Maxima copied the Lexus IS300 backlights....

It still loks nasty!!!!!!!!!!

Nissan news pics of 2002 models!!!!!!!!!

WOW!! How Uhhhg-leeeee!

Maybe it has the same HP as the CL-s and maybe it has a manual tranny unlike the CL-s and mybe it has Birdseye Frozen Vegetables for a NAV system :p .

But, I think the CL/CL-s will TAKE IT any day in a BEAUTY CONTEST!!

That thing is nasty looking -- what a hideous front end/back end!

The longer I look at it (not too long), the more happy I am with by "bland" CL-s!

The Maxima has never been about good looks. I have owned a 96 se and a 01 se and both were five speeds. They were both quick cars off the line, but didn't have the midrange punch or handling prowess of a cl-s. But with the additional horsepower and a six speed - watch out!

But what I am concerned about regarding the new MAxima is the 246 lb-ft of torque! And how fast that will make them go..

I don't like their navi. It looks cool, but I prefer simple. Streets are 2D things, so I don't know what the 3D look really adds. I like ours because I can get the information from it in a glance and not have to look at a million things. And besides, where is the "you are here" icon?

I agree. I am sure the 6 speed Maxima will be faster than the CLS auto and probably par with the CLS manual.

well I personally like the exterior look of the maxima, I always have. however, the interior this go round doesn't look all that great. the CL's interior looks much more luxurious. i'm still waiting to see the final and official stats on the 02 Maxima.

I'm not sure what it is but when I was looking for our 2nd car (had the CL-S for a year at that point), I drove both the Maxima and the I30. I could get around the looks of the back end of the Maxima but both the Maxima and the I30 had the same handling characteristics. It was something about the comfort of the car and the handling that left me uninspired. Not everyone may feel that way but I would definitely drive both cars back to back before making up my mind.

What do you folks think about the new 2002 Jetta/Golf VR6 with 201hp and a 6spd...get the sport suspension/wheel setup, I'll bet that will be a hot car- I'm sure good for mid to low 6's to 60.
