02-06 rsx wheel and airbag

I bought this wheel and airbag and need to install it. Ive searched thru the steering wheels posts but didnt find a definative answer. I was told by Acura dealer and a body shop that the rsx and cl connectors for both the airbag and cruise control will be different and that both would have to be spliced. noone is willing to touch this job so Id have to do it myself. If this is the case I think Ill have to ditch this whole idea. I was under the assumption that the rsx wheel and airbag was a direct swap from seeing a few other ppl here do it. Can anyone help enlighten me on this thanks

Probably because it is a dual stage airbag. A lot of CL owners like myself wanted to change out the airbag for the 03' one, but your taking a big risk when you start splicing into those wires. Is it worth the risk?

my cl is a dual stage airbag. the rsx is a dual stage airbag. I know you have to splice a 1 stage airbag to fit, but didnt think youd have to for a 2 stage.

why dont ya just pull that cover off the bottom of the airbag to expose the connector and see if it fits?

Direct swap on an 03 CL.

The only thing you will have to mess with is the audio buttons. You either have to give them up, or make a way to make them fit on the wheel.

TO remove the wheel do I just disconnect the negative battery wait 3 min, remove 2 screws holding airbag, unplug airbag, unbolt big nut holding the wheel on, unplug cruise and radio, then pull. Instructions someone posted says to disconnect the side airbags passenger airbags etc. Is that necessary.

when I did my steering wheel I didn't even disconnect the battery, and never had an issue. To get the airbag off remove the two bolts (one on each side under the cover on the side of the steering wheel). Be careful u don't strip it the threads, it can happen and then ur in a tight spot, and sometimes those bolts are on TIGHT. so push and turn.

this is what it looks like when u get the air bag off

Only thing that's missing in this picture is the rubber piece for vibrations mounted across the top of the steering wheel frame.
