im new to this forum so just want to say hello to everybody .

recently i purchased the 01 cls and it was ok for a few weeks ,

the car had some bodywork repairs because it was in an accident ,

everything works fine except 2 days ago i was crusing on a highway
doing about 70-80mph and my maintenance light came on ,

i took it to autozone and had the codes checked but the tester didnt show any codes and showed the test as pessed ,

i dont have any experience with acuras but im thinking that whoever fixed it messed around with the computer and dissabled some things in there to make it pass the inspection ,

what id like to do is get some kind of software i can put on the laptop so i can dump the rom and see if anything was disabled or just reflash it with a oryginal unmodified bin for my car .

i dont want to go do a dealer because they charge redicilous amounts for stupid stuff i can do myself ,

i know i can buy software like that but its usually a few thousand bucks , so im looking for a free alternative , or someone that is already capable of doing so in philadelpia or nyc area ,

all suggestions thoughts and comments apreciated

 

If its not your check engine light then you have nothing to worry about. Some vehicles have maintenance lights which come on when oil changes are needed, those are simple fixes you can reset. I would suggest looking through your owners manual for that.

 

id gladly look through the manual but the car didnt have it , im looking for 1 on ebay .,

im not sure if its the check engine light or not , its the one that sais "Meint Req'd"

in my z28 i only had 1 light for everything , i dont know if its the same in the acura

 

the "maint req'd" light means it's time to do routine maintenance (oil change, etc).

you can reset it by pressing and holding the tripmeter "select" and "reset" while you turn the ignition to "on". keep holding the buttons until the light goes out.

it'll come back on in 7500 miles or so to let you know you're due for another oil change.

there is a separate check engine light (looks like a motor) that illuminates when you have a code set.
