01 Cls

I've been doing alot of reading about the tranny issues about the Cl'S and it is starting to scare me. I just sold my Spec V which had engine problems, tranny problems, manifold, and MAFS problems. I really like the CLS and i found one i liked for a good price. Its from a private dealer of about 100 cars...and i test drove it and it runs fine. It is over the 5yr 50,000 mile warrenty. If i buy it, will i still be covered up to 100,000miles for protection on the tranny? or is that something i have to buy? Just need some help before i make a final decision. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i am new to the forums.

Welcome to the board.

The extended tranny warranty is transferrable to the new owner. I believe it goes to 7 yrs/70,000 miles. I don't remember exactly.

You'll like the CL-S.

Tranny is covered by Acura to 100K. This car is awesome, and the used prices make it a steal imho. Go get it, and if you're looking for peace of mind, get an extended warranty for the other parts.

Spend ~$75 and get your local Acura dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. In addition to giving it a visual once over, they can run the VIN through their computer. Check it out!

i have 42K and still on the original tranny. You have to understand that everything we talk on this board probably looks disproportional to reality. We spend way to much quality time with our cars

Tranny Warranty

Yes the the warranty is car specific not owner specific. At the very least have the local Acura dealer run the VIN to see if its included in the warranty extension or if its been replaced already.

I have an 01 CL and love it. Been very dependable and the warranty service at the local dealerships here is unbelievable. You will be happy with the purchase.

I have 44K on the orig tranny and have the extended for the tranny reason.

As much as I hate to say it, I have to be honest and say, don't but the car. Too mych of a time bomb after 100K.

Would rather get something else with a good chance of seeing 200K miles...

Just my 2 cents!!
