01 CL-S vs 04 WRX STI

01 CL-S vs 04 WRX STI
Going home last night I saw what I thought was WRX taillights at a red light. I pull up next to him and it is a WRX STI, we pull off driving normal then I hear his exhaust revving a little. By about 40 mph I floor it, then a split second later he floors it. We stayed next to each other longer then I thought and KNOWING he's going to pull on me, he pulls a car and a half by about 75 mph. I shut it off by 105 mph and he had pulled me about 4-5 car lengths , which is a lot but I thought it would be more. I only have a comptech ice box on my car, and it obviously is an automatic with 67000 miles on it. Just thought I'd let you guys know. After we raced if you would call it that , he pulled over and it was a guy I went to High School with. Come to find out his wasn't stock. I knew he had an after market exhaust, but he told me he also has a bigger down pipe, and some custom computer. I knew not to race him from a dead stop , AWD owns all. ONE MORE HONORABLE DEATH . He ended up letting me drive it and needless to say I love the STI, but I think a comptech supercharger, headers, and catback would do the trick only from a roll. Handling is a different story, our cars would need a miracle.

i've raced a sti up to 150. they fall on their face just like the cls does. i'm not sure if it is aerodynamic problems or that the turbo running out of steam.

Factory, the turbo is already maxed out. It's hard to make much more power out of an STi with stock turbo. With a bigger turbo, they can make a lot more power, and keep it all the way upto 160+. Second time I went to the track (1/4 mile) I was actually running the exact same 1/8 time and speed as my friend's Evo. So it showed on the slips actually.

Actually the main reason why they are slow at those high speeds is because of their gear ratios they are very very short. In the quarter mile they max 4th gear and head out into 5th...

That is also true. lol. I'm around them a lot, from 0-120, they will kill most things, but after that, they slow down a little. They're rally cars, and so are their gears.

If you have the S/C the race will be closer, but there aren't too many CLS going to be keeping up w/ STI's and EVO's, fastest 2nd GEN CL on this forum last time I checked ran a 12.9XX, and that was with a 6,000 custom turbo kit.

on cars that come stock with FI ecu modifications that allow for more boost can easily gain 50+ hp...
if your argument is soley that this is a cleaned up, dumbed down dyno graph then you are likely correct, but thats not to say that a graph that indicates similar gains and it more technical couldnt be found. give up you lose.

you obviously know jack shit about subaru's and tuning, so maybe you should just pipe down and let the adults continue our discussion.

Look here just because I'm 19 doesn't mean you can talk down to me.
Flat engines are comparable in balance to v12 engines that dont exhibit vibration and dont require large counter wieghts like inline 4's. Subaru or not its basic squish bang and blow.
First off I can tune and calibrate ECU's, I went to a vocational school for it and now I'm a full time mechanic.
Doesn't make you look good for a moderator.

here's another dyno for you subaru experts. you may want to disregard it, since it was probably made in MS paint or something.
this is turbo back exhaust and ECU reflash only.

bottom line, i'm presenting facts into this thread, to enlighten some of you.
you, on the other hand, are spewing useless bullshit and making yourself look worse with every post.
you come into this thread and call bullshit on a dyno that i posted. a dyno done by some of the most respected tuners in the subaru world, who also happen to be my friends.
you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself, noObert.

Guess what fucktard, you just can't handle being challenged. That is your problem, not any of ours.
I want my 5 minutes back for having wasted my time.
Don't do it again. Next time, you get the hammer.

Do what you please, I can say anything about the first graph posted. Now guessing and saying I '' dont know anything about tuning or subarus '' wasn't a good move, I replied to it and he couldn't comprehend what I said.
Put in my place by what?
Challenge by what? You can't seem to handle yourself also, you're already calling me names.
Note cobb tuning tell's you temperature and type of dyno, sea level, variation in airfuel and last but not least boost taper This is important.
Now you tell me 2 dyno graphs with the same basic mods except 1 has an intake included are not close in making the same power, and cost around the same price.
My opinion one is fake live with it.

the PDX dyno shows whp numbers, the Cobb dyno shows flywheel numbers. that's why they're different.
my point in this thread was only to show that the turbo in an STi was not maxed out from the factory. which i have done.
your point in this thread must have been to make yourself look like a jackass. nice work!

Many members on the lgt board have pretty much matched cobb's legacy dynos. so it's not exactly bs. This is across the us in all kinds of temps and alt. humidity, etc. when i had my 1st gen cl i know of only 2 members who actually dynoed their car. over on the legacy board there is a new dyno almost every other week. they are crazy over there. old guys throwing gt35s in foresters is just nuts.

I want a Legacy GT Limited, from what i heard they are VERRYYYYY mod friendly and can get very good gains from simple mods, hmmmm Time to put in more hours during the holiday. lol Hey MattG i Love your care it's absolutely beautiful. How much power did you extract from the factory turbo? Did you get the STI mods that comes from the dealership? Again very clean looking car maybe I can get one in black Sorry for going off-topic guys I just wanted to get some info on the legacy gt. Oh yea mattg, how much power are you putting down to the wheels?
