01 CL-S vs 03 CL-S with mods

My cousin just got his 01 CL-S back from the shop yesterday and we raced from a dig on an empty street, each time we went, he had me by 1-2 cars. My mods are listed in my sig. His CL-S is completely stock. I have 2 12'' subwoofers, could that be my downfall?

I don't think the subs could have any difference considering that u have headers and stuff. Not to offend u but he was probably a better driver...

Couldn't the wheels be a difference......aren't you adding a good amount of weight with the non stock wheels?

both autos? weight is a huge difference when racing the same car, just one person vs 2 people could throw the race by a good bit just because of weight.

something has got to be going wrong with your 03. Double check it. Could be anything a coilpack etc. you should not have lost that one.

um you should have one with your mods unless you had like 3 people in your car and he only had 1

Check to see if your IMRC is working properly. You should be ahead of your cousin by at least 2 cars to 90.

Do what Viscous said, and check if your IMRC is working.

Check to make sure there are no sneaky mods on his car!

Well definitely take your subs out to get a baseline, hell if you have 2 12's and a box that could weigh 100 pounds maybe?

Either way, whether the subs weight a lot or not, he has I/E/H/P vs. stock and both auto. You figure even if the I/E/H/P only adds +25 HP, what's 100lbs, maybe be an even race at worse, he shouldn't loose by 1-2 car lengths. Plus the rims he has aren't that heavy either. I'd definitely check the IMRC or could it be the tranny slipping?

My tranny seems fine, shifts smoothly. How do I go about checking my IMRC?

Do a search for "IMRC" on the forum. There's tons of info on it. But basically it's on the top of the motor toward the firewall and it's mechanical, so have someone rev your engine to at least 5K RPM and you should see the IMRC turn. If it doesn't then you need a new one.

Why would a stock 01 be faster than a stock 03?

No, not really. I know there's no reason for the 01 to be faster. I just was waiting for a stupid response like the 03's windows are thicker so it's heavier or something retarded like that. You never know what misinformation people have in their heads sometimes.
