01-03 CLS Models

Hey guys,

Right now I'm trying to decide if I'd prefer to go for a new '04 TL, or go for an 01-03 CL-S. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows what the differences were between each model year from 01-03 off the top of their heads.

Thanks

supposedly the 03's suck less than the 01's.
03's have a smaller sideview mirror for noise reduction...the sideview is also blue tinted...the muffler tips are more oval and rolled - cleaner look. different rims. different taillights. different headlamp housing. less chrome on the 03's. i'm sure there are other aesthetic differences but mechanically/electronically the same POS.

want mine?

03 has six speed manual, 01 and 02 only have auto.

Aren't you near Davis? If you have the money, go for the new TL. The new TL are really nice. I have a 01 CLS, I love it but the quality wasn't there like how the Legend were built. The new TL has the six speed coming soon.

The '03 6spd is a blast to drive. I would be driving something else right now if the 6spd CLS wasn't produced. The problems with the auto trannies had a huge impact on my buying decision.

The new TL's only have 10 more hp - mostly from a cai which you can buy from Comptech for ~ 250. Depreciation is so steep on the CL I can't see why you'd get the the new TL. Besides, the cabin seems a little narrower for the driver & passenger in the new TL. You can get a new CL-S or one with ~ 10,000 mi for more than $10K less than a new TL. Five years from now they'll both be within $1500 of each other in value. Plus I actually prefer the (relatively) large two door coupe style of the CL-S.

Thanks bean, that's alot of help. I thought the new TL seemed to have alot more interior room than it's predecessors, but I might have just not spent enough time looking over the small details. Slim, yeah I'm near Davis, about four-five mins away.
