re: denying bmw outperforms acura - the results of the speedvision touring car championships seem to indicate otherwise.

re: skilled drivers in each car - you have something against alfred dupont or neal sapp or any of the turner motorsports guys?!?? they're pretty damn good drivers, I'd say.

rwd is the classic racing configuration, there's no denying it. all I'm saying is, cut honda some slack - they've worked wonders even considering the handicap of using fwd platforms. honda, unlike bmw, is first and foremost a car of the masses, so they will generally use mass production techniques to get where they need to be. it ain't art, but it is effective.

All excellent points...

They also add penalty ballast to wining drivers to "even" up the series and I believe the series is attempting to "promote" driving skills vs. technology...

A reputable dealer will create the list and as they are allocated the car change the specs to those fo the next person on the list.

This is how it went with my S2000 and my 2002 CLS
Nope. Acura builds cars in batches of the same color and same equipment. Each months allocation is based on the colors and equipment that Acura decides to build. Acura and Honda keep their production costs down by limiting the number of options and colors available and "telling" their dealers what they are going to receive rather than "asking" them. Dealers who post on acuramdx.org have confirmed this.

well working at a dealer, i can tell you sometimes they can't change color, they may just get a batch of them shipped in a variety of colors, i know when mercedes introduces a new model - ala cl500 every dealer got a white one, if you wanted a different color you waited

CL Manual - about time!

I've been waiting for confirmation on the CL Manual. I currently own
a '97 5-speed CL and are in the market for a new A4 or BMW3. This new news has me confused now... I don't know whether to wait or not cause I am ready to pull the trigger on the Audi or BMW in Jan/Feb timeframe. Regardless, I'm glad for the Cl-S because that car & engine screams out for a manual!

Dude, get the Audi. If they had made the A4 in a coupe form, I would have gotten it. But obviously, you don't care so get it!!!!!

I don't know the exact dates but wasn't the '01 CL introduced in March or April of 2000? Also, the '02 TL was introduced mid-April of '01 so conceivably, we're only four months away from a '03 CL introduction.

That’s GREAT !!!

My birthday is April 29th.
In 2000 I just happened to place my order for my 2001 CL-S on that very day. (It arrived in June)
I may do the same this year.

My 2 cents ...
Well if u ever get that 6-speed CLS be sure to post the amount u paid for it w/ the help of ur dealer-friend-of-the-family. That way u could help us all out and mabey we could all shoot for that same price range . Alot better that haggling over how close we can all get to invoice.

Please don't bitch at me...I'm just saying there aren't as many manual tranny buyers for a CL as there are autostick buyers.

No I won't bitch at u, I wil actually agree with u. All the times that I drive my friends Audi S4, stick. I always try to see if auto is really that crucial to me. Well yea I lose an extra hand but I can always make up for it. When I'm hittin a bole I can steer with my knee and shift with my right. But the only time that I feel that I would rather be with auto is when I'm too stoned to shift a manual.
But me personally I do like the freedom of more control over my car, and the release of a 6-speed stick is something that I am expecting.

Keep the cheer up - it's Friday !
Alittle optomistic don't ya think...mabey 6 flat.
But mabey a 5.7 could happen...I could be wrong...I hope.

Hey I find it weird that acura will release a 2003 model in April.... since the 2002 CL just hit the dealers like 3 months ago, no?
Wouldnt it make more sense that acura will release the 6-speed and keep it as a 2002 in april? I mean they are weird as it is, they change colors in the middle of a model year. So it wouldnt surpise me if they call the 6-speed in April a 2002 model. IMO

I agree, and I think this is what's going to happen as well. Most likely it will be a 2002.5 type of release. Acura is back on the regular fall release for new models. Either that or they'll release the 6-speed as an early 2003, but the auto won't come out until Sept. / Oct. with the regular cycle of '03 releases. Right now it's all speculation anyway......

Well if they don't start selling CLs soon the whole line may be discontinued, 6 speed or no 6 speed....

The 2001 CL/CLS was shipped in late March I believe. So it is possible for April to qualify as 2003.

Yeah - Acura should just fold altogether and Honda should just stick with the Accord and the Civic

Thats only because it was redesigned. I mean it could happen, I just dont think acura will make it a 2003.

On the other hand ... if Acura is trying to make a statement about adding the 6-speed ... doesn't quite have as much punch as a 2002.5 (read - no big deal) release ... would be better to mark it as a 2003 ... and I believe they will do more than just add the 6-speed ...

Acura needs a boost bad ... time to unload a few "chips" they have been holding back.

Anyone hearing anything new from their dealers on this? I think I have a few weeks until the allocation deal happens at my dealer, so maybe it will be quiet until then ...
