$650 for a maintanace check up!!!!?!!

I have a 2001 blk 3.2CL (stock), 48K...i took it to the dealer and they told me i should do a "major" maintanance check up...they said "they do the works"... but they said since it's "major" it'll cost around $600! Is this right...or they trying to rip my ass off! probably...just wanted opinions...is there other places i can get it?

I think my dealer charges 325 or 350 for the 30,000 mile interval services.

Ouch! That price would only make sense if they were changing the timing belt or some other major operation.

Must be cuz its black. Man they are trying to jack you!! I have an 01 with 50k miles, and the most they have ever charged for one of the "major" services was $300, and that sucks too. Most were way less than that. I would try another dealer, hope you find something better than $600.

I just had my '03 TLS in for the 45000 mile service along with a few other warranty things and they charged me $396 for the 45000 mile service, NEVER AGAIN!!! When they charge $88/hr, it adds up quick.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Acura ownership

Don't worry 'bout it. It's to prepare you for future ownership of a more upscale car... Ever heard about the cost of Porsche service

300 for 30k service
290 for 50k service

Had these done within 6months, really didn't make sense, and it wasn't worth much.

I think my dealer is charging 92$/hour for labor...

Again I still don't understand why people continue to go to a car dealer for servicing. We don't own a Ferrari here. There's just no need. Any comptent repair shop can do this work for far far far less. Alot of the major chaines also have sevice interval specails 30K 50K 60K 100K.

I paid $500 for the 30k "major" service.

I made sure they gave me extra lube.

It's probably gonna be nothing more then:

-Replace engine oil.

-Rotate tires

-Replace engine oil filter.

-Inspect front and rear brakes.

-Check parking brake adjustment.

-Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.

-Inspect suspension components.

-Inspect driveshaft boots.

-Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).

-Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks.

-Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.

-Inspect exhaust system.

-Inspect fuel lines and connections

Go back to the dealer and give them a big . If you don't want to get , look at your owner's manual and see what should get done at your mileage and just ask them how much for the major items, which I think include new coolant and brake fluid. The rest of the inspections they probably will do for free anyway to see if they can charge you for some other items they may find. If their price is still ridiculous go somewhere else you trust, it doesn't have to be at the dealer...and with some dealers it's even better if you go elsewhere.

You are in Hawaii that is why it cost $650. Technician have union there and I have talk to techs that are making over $30 per hour and with good benefit. Plus I heard there are only 2 dealers in Hawaii. Damn if I can corner the market I will raise the price too, don't like it? Go somewhere else. sorry I know it is not funny to you.

Not only expensive in Hawaii

Just moved to NC, and got quoted for the 30,000 service on my '03 CLS 6spd:

From Performance Acura in Chapel Hill: $550
From Leith Acura in Cary: $560

It seems like they don't actually DO much other than change the oil, fuel filter, air cleaner and pollen filter. Am I missing something? Is there something that justifies >$300 of "inspecting" things?

Can't you find a good local shop? I've got a shop that specializes in Honda just up the street from me. When I had my Vigor, the dealer wanted $450 to change the master cylinder. They did it for $325 with new honda parts. It pays to find a good local shop!
